Music Industry Dead In 2008
I am a Music Industry insider who has had enough of what has been seen on a daily basis for many years. I want to uncover the truth beyond what is reported to the general public and share it with all of you as often as I can. Sometimes it will be in the form of a rant, other times I will share facts and figures and real news from the inside, and expose different technologies the industry is playing with to captivate you the consumer.Lets start with the RIAA and what they are up to in the industry and how it effects all of you as a consumer. You always know when an industry is on its last legs, when all it does is resort to suing any body and everyone it can to make its point.
Case and point example is Tanya Andersen was sued by the RIAA for copyright infringement (Atlantic v. Andersen) in 2005; after the case was dismissed, a magistrate judge granted Andersen's motion for attorneys fees.
U.S. District Court Judge James A. Redden affirmed that ruling yesterday. The court has yet to decide on an amount to award Andersen.
Meanwhile, Andersen's countersuit against the RIAA, which claims electronic trespass, violations of computer fraud and abuse statutes, RICO violations, invasion of privacy and other charges, is still pending in the courts.
This is what the RIAA's main goal is, to violate and invade your privacy any way possible to accomplish what ever its goal is. The example is who was hired by this organization this week( The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has hired Kathy Leodler, former acting special agent in charge of the FBI's office in San Diego, as the new director of investigations for its Western region anti-piracy unit.)
What does this have to do with Music???, wake up and hear what your consumer is looking for, now that the CD is dead and the industry has lost control of the distribution chain, the game is up!!! Here is another insider truth the CD is down 50% not the 12 the industry wants you to believe, look at any Music industry stock and you will see earnings down anywhere between 50% and 70%. For a simple way to see this walk into any Best Buy or Wal-Mart, the shelves are shrinking every month.
The days of putting out a Mega BS artist is over and is not believable to the consumer in the ages of 13-20, the very group the industry targets and markets to the most. The irony is more music is out in the market and in more demand then ever before, its just not contrived and made up, its real.
Consumers want something so simple and thats good music and believable artists. The only artists thriving in this new era are American Idol winners of past and present, why? because the consumer has had the chance to connect with them from the time they were nobody to what the show makes them into.
I look forward to the current Baby Boom Regime that runs the recording industry being gone. Your becoming more and more irrelevant everyday and its time to step out of the way and let the next generation clean up your mess before their is nothing left. Lets face it you don't know technology or how to truly use it, your like a group of spoiled children holding on to your toys and not sharing with anyone else, Its time to finally Grow Up and act like adults.
I look forward to seeing the demise of the current industry so we the next generation can get back to making good music the very thing you have forgotten about.
My next posting will be more industry news based, I thought it fun to begin with a rant to get this started, feel free to make comments I will censor nothing and together we can help save the Music!!
