Digital Photography Advice

The change from film cameras to digital cameras has opened up a whole new world to beginner photographers, expert photographers and everyone in between. I really love to play around with my camera and see what kind of shots I can get, whether it is a holiday card picture of my kids, my cats acting silly or just some beautiful scenery at a wedding. I would like to share with you some digital photography advice in this lens. Happy reading and happy shooting.

My first piece of digital photography advice

Think about your goal. Are you shooting a portrait of someone, are you shooting some nature shots or maybe a sporting event? Whatever your goal is, make sure that is what you are actually taking a picture of. For example, if you are taking a portrait of someone, make sure that there is nothing distracting in the background (like the back of another person or your vacuum cleaner), you want your focus to be on that person. If you are trying to get some nice nature shots decide if you want a close up of something or a wide area? Whatever the shot make sure there is nothing else going on around your subject. Don't forget about the goal of your picture.

Another piece of digital photography advice

Make sure that your subject is in focus. Almost every digital camera, both automatic and SLR, has this neat little pre-focus features. When taking pictures in automatic mode simply push the shutter button down half way, and the camera will focus on your subject.

The next piece of digital photography advice

I like to take all kinds of pictures, some very posed and some quite natural. When I am taking posed shots I like to set up a background. You can do this with a plain sheet or going to the fabric store and getting a few yards of fabric. Then you will have a nice backdrop for your subject. I do this every year when taking my holiday pictures for our cards.

“Take lots and lots of shots! The more pictures the better!”

Take lots of shots! In my opinion the best part about digital photography is you can just delete the shots that you do not like. No more wasting money on getting pictures developed just to find that they did not come out right. So snap away and you will be sure to get that great picture you were hoping for. I hope you find these little bits of digital photography advice helpful.
