I've never had pickled bean like this, the beans in three bean salad might be pickled, but probably aren't any where as good as yours.
  • Pamela2Heaven Sep 2, 2008 @ 7:33 pm | delete
    Well done!

I remember being a little girl in Solon, Iowa a million years ago and watching my babysitter can tomatoes. I had to ask my mom about it. lol Personally, I am a raw foods woman, but I love that people are still doing it. I envision rows and rows of jars in your basement that have to be dusted before being brought up stairs!

    Great 5* lens
  • lifelongfitness Aug 12, 2008 @ 6:06 pm | delete
cool lens. Never tried or even heard of this before. I will definitely try these dilly beans 5*
  • EelKat Aug 12, 2008 @ 2:43 am | delete
Oh wow! What a great lens! I love dilly beans, we used to make them every year. (Grew the beans too!) Belles of Maine sells them in the local stores, but as far as I've heard they are a pretty local food and hard to find outside of Maine.

I think Dilly Beans are even better than regular cucumber pickles.
  • dannystaple Aug 10, 2008 @ 2:52 pm | delete
Thanks for this. I am currently growing tomatoes, but growing and pickling beans sounds like another good food. Have you thought of joining "The Green Thumb" group? My three planting related lenses are all part of it. Ways to cook with and preserve homegrown foods are all party of the gardening thing IMHO.
  • badmsm Aug 8, 2008 @ 8:51 pm | delete
    I love pickles!
