Tribute to Dimebag
This lens is dedicated to the guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott. His projects included bands Damageplan, Rebel Meets Rebel, and, most notoriously, PANTERA. Dimebag was one of the most influential metal guitarists of all time, and through his work he remains an advocate of true metal. His death in 2004 meant the abrupt end of an amazing person and incredible talent, and was not only a huge loss to the heavy metal genre but also to his family, friends, and fans. RIP.
Pantera
Originating in Arlington, Texas, in 1981, Pantera was initially a glam metal band. 6 years later and influenced by bands like Slayer and Metallica, their music shifted to a much heavier sound. By now their members consisted of vocalist Phil Anselmo, guitarist Dimebag Darrell, his brother and drummer Vinnie Paul, and bassist Rex Brown. On July 24th, 1990, their fifth album Cowboys From Hell was released--and took the band to a new level. Cowboys From Hell marked the beginning of Pantera's commercial success, popularizing them and landing them next to bands like Judas Priest, Metallica and AC/DC while touring. Three more albums were released before the break-up of Pantera in 2003, due to conflict with Anselmo. CD's
