How To Make Your Child A Better Reader
Tips For Sharing Books With Your Child
Read aloud to your child every day. Be consistent and let your child know that this is something to look forward to. GET EXCITED ABOUT READING!Take turns reading aloud. You read one page, your child reads the next, and so on.
Ask questions about the story. Ask about the main characters, the setting and the problem in the story. Ask your child to predict the outcome of the story. Ask your child to summarize their favorite stories.
Be patient and wait while your child tries to sound out new words. Help pronounce difficult words quickly without interupting the flow of the story.
Read books on a variety of reading levels. Choose different genre of literature to share with your child. You will want to read fiction, non-fiction, biography, poetry, mystery, science fiction, historical fiction, etc.
Praise your child often and make reading time a fun time to spend together.
Dinosaur vs Bedtime
By Bob Shea
Dinosaur vs. Bedtime
Amazon Price: $10.87 (as of 01/02/2010)![]()
This is a charming bedtime story in which a dinosaur roars, "Roar! I'm a dinosaur! Roar! Nothing can stop me!" when he comes up against various obstacles: a pile of leaves, a big slide, a bowl of spaghetti, even "talking grown-ups" but when he approaches bedtime, his roar doesn't work and he falls asleep.
The author wrote this book for his own "little dinosaur" and it is delightful.

Kids will love this book. A little boy is running errands in town with his mother. He is delighted when he discovers that every store is giving away a dinosaur with any purchase.
His mother is reluctant to keep these huge beasts but she comes up with a perfect solution for all to live together in harmony.
This is a MUST READ for all children who love dinosaur books!
Read Aloud To Your Child

- I found this while working on my own dinosaur lens. This is great. I'm adding it to mine as a featured lens. It's still a work in progress, but I hope to have it up soon. I love that you give tips about reading to your child as well. 5 stars.
