Diptyque - the Scent of Luxury
Diptyque candles are one of my favourite indulgences. I love everything about them. The beautiful packaging, the elegant design and most of all, the delicious perfume that lingers on well after the flame has been extinguished.
They are expensive, which makes them ideal for birthday and christmas wishlists, but once you have found your scent, you will be addicted. Not only do Diptyque candles lift your mood, but they also make your home smell like a million dollars!

Diptyque was founded by three friends - Desmond Knox-Leet, Christiane Gautrot and Yves Coueslant. All three attended the École des Beaux-Arts ("School of Fine Arts") and trained in design. They set up a company in 1961 selling fabrics and wallpapers.In 1963, inspired by their collective love of travel, they started producing a range of deliciously scented candles which became justifiably famous.
Nowadays, Diptyque offers a range of over 50 scents - all of which are made without synthetic ingredients.

- Diptyque comes from the Ancient Greek 'díptykhos' meaning two painted or carved panels that are hinged together.
- The Diptyque Tuberose candle is a bestseller and it's heady, sensuous perfume comes from a Mexican bulbous herb. It is one of the most expensive perfume ingredients in the world.
- Sean 'P Diddy' Combs allegedly insists on having 50 Diptyque Tuberose candles burning in his studio when he is recording.
- Despite their international reputation, Diptyque still only have 4 worldwide shops in Paris, London, San Francisco and Boston. Visiting these is a sensory experience in itself.
