There are few things in life I hate more than making unnecessary trips to the bank and then having to wait in line. One of the few things is not getting my paycheck on time because of an error in payroll or a delay in the mail carrier. A perfect solution for this is direct deposit. Many companies have phased out paper checks totally and exclusively do direct deposit. If you work for an employer who has direct deposit and you don't use it, here are some reasons you should change your mind.
If you're like me, you've washed your paycheck in your jeans before. You've left your paycheck on your desk at work over the weekend before. You've dropped your check in the parking lot of the workplace before. Direct deposit eliminates the tangible check...you only receive a pay stub.
#2. Never receive your check late again.
It no longer matters if the weather causes the Fed Ex or UPS driver to reach your work place on time. Also, you don't have to worry about whats going to happen around the holidays. Your paycheck is deposited in your account at the same time every week. Mine, personally, is on exactly midnight.
#3. Banks give you additional offers.
When you use direct deposit, you help your bank out as well. You're saving them time and money by not making them process a paper check. In response to this, your bank may provide a free or reduced cost checking account.
#4. No more trips to the bank!
You work during the day...so does everyone else. You go to the bank after work...so does everyone else. Eliminate the lunch break bank runs and endless lines and use that time for something more important.
