What's the Big Secret?

Direct sales and network marketing are some of the most popular ways to start working at home. And it's no wonder.

These businesses offer people much of what is needed to truly succeed in a home business. With so many companies it's very possible to find the opportunity that is just right for you, that you are utterly passionate about.

And with the right upline, you have the support you need to really get things going, to build a successful business and still have time for your family.

But not every upline is created equally. Some are wonderful and helpful. Others not so much, or they mean well but really aren't the brilliant marketers you would like to have helping you along.

Become a Renegade...

There are some secrets to network marketing that too many people don't know. Mostly because they've fallen for the lies that their upline learned from their upline from their upline... until everyone believes it is true because everyone knows it.

Is Network Marketing Right for You?

Direct sales and network marketing are definitely not for everyone. However, as many companies now allow you to market online, you no longer have the excuse that you don't want to be selling to your family and friends.

Just read The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing if you don't believe me. Or The Renegade Network Marketer, but if you're in doubt it is probably best to start with the free resource, and build to paid as you get more curious.

But there are many advantages to this kind of a business. You can start a business with very little money paid out. It generally will cost something; it is a business, after all.

You'll also get the chance to help other people start businesses. They don't have to be your family or friends. If they're anything like mine, most won't be interested. Why harass them?

It's a business you can work on without quitting your job. You can do this if you're a stay at home mom, or if you're busy with your regular job, or if you're a college student... it really doesn't matter. What matters is your drive to succeed.

Direct Sales Opportunities
You might just find the right opportunity on this list. I've had many people looking to build their direct sales businesses list their sites on mine. One might just suit you.

But How Do You Choose the Right Opportunity?

Choosing the right opportunity is a challenge. You have to figure out which is right for you. For most interests there are a range of opportunities. Some will be more established, while others will be newer.

Established opportunities have the advantage of having been around for a while and have a name built up around them. How many people know of Avon, after all. But at the same time, how many people are already representing that opportunity in your area?

Newer direct sales companies don't have that problem, but they do present more risk. You know less about how reliable they are, and they are more prone to going out of business, leaving you to start over.

No matter what, take your time as you get started. Do some due diligence before committing to anything. Don't just talk to the person introducing you to the opportunity. Talk to people who have no financial interest in getting you to join. Search comments out online. Trust your instincts.

Is Direct Sales for Everyone?

Goodness, no!

No one opportunity will suit every need. For that matter, no one marketing tactic will suit every need. You have to find what works for you.

The beauty of network marketing and direct sales is that you can almost always find products you will be passionate about. We are well past the days of beauty supplies being just about the only choice in this industry.

You aren't stuck with the old marketing methods either. Many companies allow representatives to choose to market their businesses online. Some even do their business 100% online, although some things are easier to do in person.

The main excuse people give for not even wanting to look at direct sales opportunities is that they don't like to sell. Most people don't. But if you're enthusiastic about your products it won't feel like you're giving a sales pitch. It's like talking about a book you just read or a movie you watched. When you love a product talking it up just comes naturally.

If you have your doubts about it, consider some of your other options for a home business. There are all kinds of options for online business, or you can do something locally. You are only limited by your own creativity and willingness to work!
