Dirty Santa Gifts
Dirty Santa Gift ideas- Naughty and Nice
The Dirty Santa's objective is to get the best gift possible by stealing it from someone who has already opened theirs and is most likely trying to hide it under the table and out of view of the Dirty Santa. This by the way, is against the rules since all opened gifts must remain in plain view of the old dirty one.
This game is such great fun. You never know what to expect when you open your gift, since some people like to give really funny gag gifts. Just be prepared because you most likely will get stuck with one. Imagine the shock on your face when you open a gift and it is a "camouflage beer-guzzling helmet" complete with the two cans of beer. You will hope someone will steal this gift from you. Just maybe, when it is Uncle Al's turn he will need one of these and steal it away from you. But most likely you will be stuck with it. However, don't worry because you can always re-gift it next year.

Dirty Santa Game Rules
A quick run down of the do's and dont's
The game begins with everyone drawing a number out of a hat. Number 1 will go first and the turn continues sequentially. Unfortunately, number 1 does not have an opportunity to steal a gift since they are the first to go. The person that goes first also gets an additional turn at the end which I'll go into detail in a bit. Player 1 chooses a gift and opens it. After that, the game gets much more interesting. The next player has the option of taking a new present and opening it or stealing player #1's gift. If that happens then the person that had their gift "stolen" from them has the option to open a new gift or steal an open gift. Now, there are some rules so it is not a stealing frenzy.
Rule #1, if player A steals from player B, then player B cannot steal that gift again until the next round and only if the gift that they currently have is stolen.
Rule #2, A round ends in two way. First, a player decides they want to open a wrapped gift instead of stealing one. Secondly, if there are three steals in one round. For example, player 1 steals from player 2, and player 2 then steals from player 3, and then player 3 steals from player 4. The third player who's gift was stolen must chose a gift to open. There can not be more than 3 steals in one round.
Back to player #1, who has been sitting there checking out all those fine gifts. Well if you are lucky enough to be player #1, you hold all the cards. Player 1 has a choice to steal any of the gifts which have already been opened or to just keep the one they have. If they keep the one they have, the game ends. If they choose to steal, the game will continue with "3 steal limit". Therefore, if player #1 steals player #2, then #2 can steal from someone with the game ending at the 3 steal total per round.
The most popular gift or the one stolen the most is the winner of the final prize. This prize is a gift given by the host of the party. A final prize gift we usually do is a few scratch off lottery tickets placed in a small box and wrapped. Everyone always likes these and your chances to actually win some money is always a plus.
This is a really fun game and can be played so many ways. Just make sure whichever rules you decide to go with, you present them clearly to your guests. Just to make sure there is no confusion. Other options for this game are to do themes. For example, an ornament theme, where everyone brings a wrapped ornament. It could be done with wine, books, beer, gourmet food items, gift cards etc.
So next time you are throwing a party, remember the Dirty Santa Game. Your guests will love you for it.
