Are you frustrated trying to find disabilty information?
If you are someone who can up from their wheelchair, be careful to turn the power off first! I almost went over the edge of the Grand Canyon just trying to take a photo. I stood and my thigh hit the "forward" on my scooter!
Traveling with a disability
There are so many things to think about before we even try to travel. Will I be able to take my wheelchair, can I rent an accesible vehicle, what are my rights?
I will list available resources with some details. You will need to click to the sites when possible to get more information as it is too much for me to type.Travel
Accessible Journeys www.disabilitytravel.com - Focuses on tours/vacations for travelers with "wheels."
"With 24 years of experience making dreams come true for travelers with wheels, we know wheelchair travel firsthand. Enjoy an accessible vacation with no surprises - the way you imagined it should be."
Travel Oasis http://www.traveloasis.com/travel-help.html - "This travel guide provides help in several categories that provide the information you need about the plug adapters and voltage converters you may need. The categories in this travel-help guide are intended to provide the specific information you need. Some information may not apply to your application and would thus be a waste of your time." Also has a lot of travel items to purchase.
Wheelchair www.newdisability.com - A great site if you travel to other countries. Lists and contacts for agencies which rent wheelchairs and accessible vans. Information as to how power varies from country to country. Click the links of interest on the left side of the page.
All About Disabled Travel www.allaboutdisabledtravel.com - Created in 1982 by a registered nurse. "This site covers travel insurance, travel medical insurance, travel accident insurance, travel health insurance, international travel medical insurance, travel and transportation for the disabled, handicapped, mobility limited or for any kind of disability, handicap, health or medical issue, and travel nurse jobs through our travel nurse network." You can also sign up for an email of "Disability tips you can use."
Disabled Travelers www.disabledtravelers.com - " This new site will provide you with information on businesses from around the world that specialize in disability travel.
A comprehensive listing of accessible travel specialists: Travel Agents, Tour Operators, Adventure Travel Companies, Accessible Cruise Specialists, Accessible Van Rentals & Equipment, Travel Companions, Home Exchanges, and Access Guides for wheelchair users and other disabled travelers."
Travel Made Easier
www.flyclear.com - "You don't go to the airport to get stranded on some never-ending airport security line. You're there to make a flight. Which is a great reason to get Clear. Clear is a high-tech card that gives you access to express security lines at airports across the country. Instead of inching along through airport security, you fly through in mere minutes, arriving at your gate stress free. " You can read all about it and apply on this site. Current pricing is: $50 for 3 months and $199/year. The site tells you what you need to apply and which airports this is accepted.
Protect your wheelchair http://www.haseltine.com/ - Wheelchairs get damaged while traveling via air, protect your chair or scooter with this hard, polyethylene case that encloses your wheels! Prices range from $370 to $690 depending on if you have a manual chair or scooter to protect.
Not all air carriers will transport with these cases nor is there always room in the cargo hold so call ahead to ask the airline if they have sufficient room!
Great Stuff on Amazon
Great items you might find you need!
Luggage Locator - Wireless, you have the locator and there is a reciever on your bag. Helps find your luggage amid all that look alike!
Heated Travel Blanket - I chose the blanket with a timer to display. A timer and thermostat will be much safer so one does not get burned. It plugs into your car.

What is great about these tests is that it tests for the antibody which can be present for more than two years even after you may have eliminated from your diet. I think these tests are more conclusive then blood tests which often show false negatives. Doctors more often then drop testing and no longer test or continue into the possibilities that gluten maybe what it causing ones problems.
