The onslaught of high technology gadgets and equipments today has caused a lot of consumers to buy items that have overlapping uses.

There are those who still buy expensive digital cameras despite the fact that their phones already have a decent photo capture feature. There are also those who acquire music players even if they have a good stereo system set up in their living room.

Even businessmen are not spared from this form of redundancy because aside from their internet connections in their desktop, they also have palm pilots for electronic mail and web surfing purposes.

Disadvantages

Not only is this practice very draining to the wallet, it is also harmful to the environment because more and more resources are being wasted. Aside from the materials necessary in making these items, packaging, whether in the form of plastic or cardboard boxes are also detrimental to the world's depleting assets. Furthermore, it has caused electric power consumption to surge at an all-time high. Have pity on Mother Nature and be more prudent with your future decisions.

However, if you think that purchasing certain equipments will make your life and work easier, then by all means go for it. Just make sure that you use it properly.

In the case of portable printers, you might want to stick it out with your traditional one. There are more disadvantages than benefits in using a portable laptop printer. Are you curious to know the reasons? Here is a list of the drawbacks.

First is the cost. They are definitely more expensive than desktop printers simply because of the fact that they are portable. Aside from that truly obvious benefit, you get nothing more. Manufacturers spend a lot in building these kinds of items so they simply pass on the additional cost to the consumers. Ask yourself if you are willing to pay such a high price. Is the convenience well worth it? Or maybe you just want a portable because you use it from time to time. If that is the case, you might be better off staying with your current printer.

Most, if not all, of the time, portable laptop printers have lesser features and lower specifications. This includes sluggish output due to the slower print speeds. This is a definite no-no for those who want to finish numerous printing tasks in a very short period of time. Another weakness is that it has low capacity prints. In fact, if you are not careful in traveling, constant shaking of the printer will cause it to eventually break down. Then, there is also the issue of lower paper capacity. As a busy person, you could not afford to stand beside your printer just to refill it every now and then. Since portable printers have only half the paper capacity of desktop printers, this is a big consideration to mull over.

Lastly, you need to recharge more often. This is a bothersome task especially if you have listed a million and one things to do in your daily schedule of activities. Charging your portable printer should be the least of your worries. There is also a probability that you might leave your charger behind, thinking that you have packed it along with your laptop and printer. Now that would be another cause of concern that will make your emotions run high.

So if you really want to get the best value for your money, desktop printer is the way to go. Leave the portable printer to those who truly need it. This article has given you a solid cost-benefit analysis of portable laptop printers for free. Be wise and save your precious bucks for better things.
