An online backup service, provides users with an online system for backing up and storing computer files. Managed backup provider "Mozy" provides this type of service.

Mozy online backup systems is built around a client software program that runs on a schedule, typically once a day. This program collects, compresses, encrypts, and transfers the data to the remote Mozy (backup service provider) servers

These days we are carrying lots of important stuff on our computers like financial documents, email, digital photos, music and more. As we all know, computers are vulnerable to hard drive crashes, virus attacks, theft and natural disasters, which can erase everything in an instant.

Sensitive data which we cannot afford to lose requires more than one backup. We cannot rely on our local backup where CD, tape backup, and hard disk have tendency to malfunction and also we need to frequently check the local backup tape or disk for any possible data corruption.

Most of the regulations like HIPAA and PCI mandates stringent requirements for data backup, restore, and retention, Small to Medium Size businesses must plan data protection deployments (backup strategy) with a comprehensive understanding of business challenges and relevant regulations.

Data recovery online is the least time consuming and most cost effective methodology. It ensures not only the data retrieved but also the hard disk is revived to its original state.

Online backup is definitely the way to go...automates your backups, makes them continuously, and is a very reasonable cost (usually less than $10/month, even for the business versions of the software)

Disaster Recovery is more important than ever before. So many companies rely on IT infrastructure, but so few have a reliable way of continuing should the worst happen.
