Original TRAX Magazine
a bit of DJ History
TRAX magazine began publishing in 1985 when the music scene in Los Angeles needed a boost and house, hip hop and rap were bubbling up with all kinds of new sounds. TRAX was the first ever consumer-trade publication by DJs for DJs. Launched by TRAX Entertainment and American Record Pool, one of the nation's largest DJ organizations, TRAX went on to establish the main programming for POWER 106 - KPWR Los Angeles when then music director Al Tavera began playing the the TRAX top 20 DJ hits around the clock.
TRAX sold coast to coast at TOWER RECORDS, WHEREHOUSE RECORDS and numerous mom and pop stores and other retail music outlets. The rest is history. Now we are online with more of ALL THE MUSIC THAT'S FIT SPIN!
