Love the Lens. Love the sixties. Many thanks for the comments. I have lensrolled your site to My favourite TV shows from the 1960's.

I'm definitely old enough to come to this "youth" club. Although the places to go and some of the names for fashion trends were different, I enjoyed many of the same songs and musicians in Seattle, WA. Your lens was a really fun trip down memory lane. Blessed by a SquidAngel.

If I had an iPod I'd be adding some songs! What a fun time I've had listening to your music and reading your tales. So many favorites here. I should come back every day and dance around my kitchen to the tunes to keep my baby boomer figure! ;) Congrats on your feature at Squidoo Lens Review.

Interesting to read what you were doing, and some of the words you use that are strictly British....adds a new dimension to the 60's for me ;)

Fun memories of a fun music time -- the 60s! My music favorites began in the late 1950s, but many of the 60s music became favorites too.

I grew up with these as well. There is an amazing number of radio stations in North America that are devoted to songs such as these. They are withstanding the test of time. RIP John Lennon.

Really enjoyed reading through this great lens, brought back a ton of musical memories. The 60's was my favourite era and you've added some new bands I'll be checking out. I've lensrolled your lens to my Ultimate Rock Music Poll.

I have spent a lot of time visiting 60's music lenses and have had a wonderful time on my trip.
Do you remember Beau Brummels. I had forgotten about this group until a friend of mine reminded me about them. Did some research and wrote a short piece here on Squidoo. Featured your lens.

I was waving from the dark corners -- in the U.S. extension. Had to laugh at the number of these songs that already reside on my iPod...

    awesome

I was very young when some of this was being played but the music has stayed with me. Even my 18 yr old son knows these songs. Love the lens. Thank you for the memories :)

My kids love this music, too. Shows you how "classic" it is.

I'm old enough ... but I wasn't exposed to much of the music you've listed here until much later in my life. I grew up with 78 records my mom collected, so I heard a lot of swing, jazz, and true country-western music. When we got a record player that would play 45's and 33's I listened to the Monkees, the Cowsills, and the Chipmunks a lot ... plus Burl Ives and comedy records by folks like Bill Cosby. I also had some pretty odd 45's because my Dad would get me 12-pack record boxes of seconds when he's go to Eureka. Which is why I know who Kane's Cousins are and can sing all the words to "Take Your Love & Shove It" LOL

Nice lens - well done. Enjoyed it much!

My teenage years were also in the late 60's and early 70's, it was fun taking a walk down memory lane with you!
  • Joan4 Sep 11, 2010 @ 11:32 am | delete
We still listen to 60s music in this house -- very early 60s in fact. I enjoyed your lens, even though you are a bit younger than we are! :)

My favorite lenses are those with a personal story like this one. I know a lot of the songs, but not all of them.

I'm really glad you liked it Kim and I'm delighted that you think its good enough for 50 'q' lenses. Wow! Thank you!!

It helps that I love this music but this was such an enjoyable lens to listen to and read, mostly due to your personal stories. One of your best ever. I am going to add it to 50qualitylenses.
  • a_willow Aug 27, 2009 @ 11:28 pm | delete
Excellent choice of music! Although I was a bit too young to dance to it in 60s and 70s, still enjoyed most of these songs in 80s! :)
  • Laniann Aug 27, 2009 @ 9:10 am | delete
Many of the songs I haven't heard, but I did enjoy my visit and listening to them. Thank you for sharing your youth club days. 5*
