Discount Scrapbooking Supplies

Shop for Themed Scrapebook Embellishments

For my scrapbooking home-based business I needed to find retailers that offer the best selection and best prices as well as shipping costs can be hard to find. I get my kits from some online scrapbooking sites.

When it comes to making cards and pages for all occasions you want a store that has a variety of materials to choose from as well as constant new ideas for artists to learn from.

Keep a log for your new projects by your work station. I find good deals on eBay.

I recommend places that have a picture gallery or some type of step by step instructions to follow along with the items I am looking to buy. It helps if they have free shipping and a great variety in the catalog.

Often times smaller outlets can have more personalized kits that are not mass produced giving customers the uniqueness they seek. That is why a few of the retailers I use seem to have the quality of art pages which help me to be a better card designer.

The benefit of finding the right kits for your projects is that if you are a beginner you will want to check out "how to" photos and videos made available from the vendor. Photo: Pixabay

Wholesale Craft Materials

To start your search you will want to check out the wholesale craft distributors who offer sewing supplies and hobby kits. Often times you can find materials at stores that are not specific to the scrapbooking niche.

This is where you will find the most savings for your money. Specialized stores usually charge more for items because they only carry items for that particular hobby.

I like to go for the general arts, crafts and sewing outlets that carry anything from buttons, fabric, yarn, stickers paints, cardstock etc. because if you buy in bulk you can get enough material to last you for months at a time.

Reducing your costs and allowing for stretching your craft budget. I like to spend more money on software or storage and organizer units and save money on the actual arts and crafts.

It is similar to the way you shop normally for things the brand name items will cost more than the generic even if they are produced and manufactured from the same company.

Learn what items you will need for your projects and then look for substitutes or generic versions of the same items. Of course you want to make quality albums and designer cards for your clients, so use your judgement when buying templates, layouts, printouts and photos.

You can cut costs on some materials but others it is worth paying the extra cost to get the end result you want for your projects.

How to Find Discount Scrap Booking Supplies Online

Save on Clearance Card Making Supplies

To save time you can start your online search by looking at wholesale craft stores, reading reviews from other scrapbook artists.

To me getting recommendations is a true lifesaver and can make buying from distributors easier. Once you find a good arts and crafts wholesaler it is best to stick with them.

Basically the supplies you will need to get started include an album, refill pages, pair of scissors, adhesive, patterns, cardstock, journal pens, paper trimmer, stickers, buttons, page sketches, circle cutter, die cut machine and much more.

As you can see most of the items are pretty basic and can be found at most shopping outlets.

Do price comparisons, order catalogs and try different brands until you get the feel for what will work best for you.

Other ideas is to join scrapbooking clubs and barter with other artists and designers who may have extra supplies to trade for something you may have in your craft chest.

Great Scrapbook Warehouse Ideas

Get Paper, Stickers, Layouts, Eyelets and More Cheap

Paper products can get kind of pricy if you are doing lots of designer cards and heritage albums. Lately I have found some directories where websites will list the top 20 or top 50 places to buy cheap scrapbooking supplies.

The reason is because it makes it so easy to go through the list and check them all out at one time, and since the webmaster has done the hard part they usually do not include places that are not worth looking at.

Then you can narrow the list down once you find the ones that will suit your project ideas best. Once you have a great customer experience with the vendors then write a review and share your story with others.

This will help build the community and provide quality information helping new scrapbookers save money and find arts and craft supplies at a discount.

Dropshipping is becoming really popular with online retailers and if you are looking for e-stores to buy your supplies from you probably would do better going straight to the manufacturer because online shops will have at least a 300% mark-up on each item.

ScrapBooking Storage Ideas

Scrapbook Storage Systems

For my free scrapbook layouts I prefer to use a great organizer carrier for display storage containers at eBay.

I found that it is easier for me to hang items for my craft projects on the wall because it frees up space on my desk and tables.

It is best to come up with a system for your multi-purpose craft supplies.

The great thing is there are plenty of craft supply organizers for your room sold at clearance and discount outlets across the web.

Creative Ideas for Your Design Projects

Make Use of Every Art Opportunity

Most albums and design projects you develop will use a variation of stickers or require you to glue on paper.

Your cut outs can come in a variety of shapes but remember the more dramatic the piece the better.

Stick with big and larger photos, borders and stickers. Not only will this cut down on the time spent on each project it will allow for extra attention to detail.

Choosing to prepare a collage or memory board be sure to include personal items to remember such as special occasions, events, outings, pets or family members.

Digital photography has made it possible to capture experiences immediately as they happen.

Smart phones, video cameras and recorded audio messages can last forever.

Having a decorative place to put all those items will be a great way to showcase those times and share with everyone for years to come.

I try never to pay retail for anything. The really good deals are out there, it is just sometimes hard to find. I agree that you never want to forgo quality for a deal.

I have done the same thing, it is great for savings especially if you buy in bulk.

Whichever fits my needs. It is about the perfect pieces. I really like your example of an organizer. I love using stickers also.
  • getmoreinfo May 20, 2012 @ 7:40 am | delete
That is what I like about custom made cardmaking because you can balance out the quality pieces with the cheaper versions.

I haven't ttried a scrapbooking program yet, though I have tried a website or two. We shop the clearance bins, and buy single pages when wanting something different. Sometimes we have a plan in mind. Other times we wing it.
  • getmoreinfo May 2, 2012 @ 10:54 pm | delete
I can relate to that, it usually depends on the types of projects I am working on at the time.

I work on things with my daughter (and get her whatever she requires) - learned the hard way to buy 'washable' things (she's only 7). Lovely lens, so glad Squidoo has a magazine for all of you gifted artisans.
