Ready, Fire, Aim!

Shoot First, Ask Questions Later

One of the things that I see on the internet quite a bit is a lot of people with absolutely no business experience whatsoever. On top of that, many of them have no idea where or how to start working on their business. What happens next is very common, both online and off; these folks study and read and observe and fiddle and jump around on and on and never get beyond a few half-hearted attempts at joining someone else's program. And they never make any money either! What is lacking in these cases is usually either confidence or organizational skills, or both. I talk with people every week who are afraid to take the plunge and get their own website up and running. They're afraid to go into a forum and promote their business. They aren't comfortable trying to drive traffic to their website when and if they even have one. This is not going to produce many results. On the internet, opportunities are here today and gone tomorrow. You need to jump on things as they are happening. About twenty years ago when I was just learning the real estate business I was mentored by a man who had made himself wealthy selling houses. He would always tell me that I needed to promote myself, not my business. Hes would always tell me to "get your face out there". At first I hesitated, feeling like it was arrogant to do that. So I worked my tail off for about nine months, doing ok but killing myself in the process. I toyed with the idea of "marketing myself" but I didn't have the confidence. One day, in my regular meeting with my mentor, he said something that sticks in my head even today. He said "you are stuck on ready,aim,aim,aim.aim...." Then he said "you need to think ready, fire, aim; ready, fire aim!" If you think of it, it's true. You've got to get out there, or get your website out there, so that people can see you/it. When i left my bosses office that day, I realized that I only advertised when I knew what the results would be, using the excuse that it was too expensive any other way. I decided to do something bold, and do it big, and let it be all or nothing. I did two things; first I leased a billboard with my picture and slogan on it, and second I leased advertising space on 12 bus benches in my area, also with my picture and slogan. Now I was in for over $1200 dollars a month (it would cost way more today I am sure). I was scared to death, because I could only afford a couple of months and I had 6 month leases on all of it. But then (and I think you know where I am going with this) something wonderful happened. Befor the glue was even dry on that billboard, a customer called my office and I sold them a house the next day! And it kept on like that until I got out of the business five years later. Now the point- I did not change, the customer's perception of me changed! They figured if my face was plastered all over that part of town, then I must be the man to see. After a couple of months I was offered a spot on a radio show about real estate, and several big developers gave me exclusive rights to list their houses. You can do the same thing with your internet business! Go forth confidently, you will fail if you don't! Now I am not saying to ignore good advice, or to financially put yourself in a hole. What I am saying is that if you really believe in your business, let it be your face and get it out there now!

The Secret To Success in Internet Marketing

Or Why You Might Not Be Successful!

Once again the ugly question has been posed to me from a would be internet millionaire- what is the real "trick" to making money. This was asked after I had just spent two whole days trying to impart information about websites and why you need one, getting traffic to your site, converting traffic into sales, and so on. I has frustrated me for years that the folks I try to help never seem to listen to what I am trying to tell them- instead they are always waiting for the "real secret", you know, the one that doesn't require education, experience, and hard work. Believe me, I've been looking for years, and there isn't any shortcut to success. Problem is, there are so many marketers and their minions screaming to the top of their lungs that you can "passively generate millions of dollars on autopilot" or "make 7,777 dollars a week while you walk the dog". The noise that they generate makes my attempts at bringing reason to the mix sound like a whisper in a hurricane! But like a fool I keep trying. Why? Because I see the damage that is done every single day. I know it isn't what the average marketer wants to hear, but barring a few exceptions, you are going to have to work hard, be consistent, and probably spend considerable time before you'll ever see any significant amount of money. I didn't make what I consider to be a living wage until my third year online. Now I will grant you that if I had to start all over again it wouldn't take as long because I know how to do it now. The nature of the internet is one of hype, and almost always what you hear is either blown way out of proportion, or simply being repeated over and over by other marketers trying to jump on the easy money bandwagon.I know that many of you that read these words have experienced what I am talking about, and many of you still believe that there is easy money to be made with little or no work. I would never want to try and discourage anyone from learning the hard way, so I won't spend a lot of time trying to dissuade you. Well, having said all of this, I want to talk about some good things, too. The internet is the only place that you can open a business for little or even no money. You can't even compare it to what it would take to open a brick and mortar business. I've done that, and it takes a whole lot more time and work to get into the black, and then you still have to struggle to keep it up. Frankly, I never want to do it again! Another thing about the internet is that it enables communication and associations that would be very difficult or even impossible in the non virtual world. And on top of all that, there really is good money to be made on the web. And let me boldly state that I have cracked the money making code! Just kidding. What I do know is how to help you build a solid foundation, accelerate your learning curve, and expand you "Opportunity Horizon". Who are we, and what do we do?

While we do operate a moderately successful computer service and sales business both on and offline, there is much more to our network of sites! At The Work At Home Home we support a growing community of internet marketers who share common goals, and have the desire to work as part of the group to educate, inform, train, and advise each to success. Internet Marketing is not easy, and many, many people don't get the tools and help that they need to be successful. We are willing to help and equip our members to ensure our mutual success. One of the most important features of our site is its emphasis on affiliate marketing, where we earn most of our income. We do this in part by exposing our members to our methods of producing quality traffic for their websites and showing them how our network of affiliate relationships has become the engine that produces revenue at an ever increasing rate. We welcome all who wish to participate, and we offer this community free of any charge to our members.

Wow!

This is getting out of hand!

I just gotta say something about The Work At Home Home. We've been up and running about three weeks, and not advertising yet, but we're already running about 6000 visitors a day through the site with about a 5% sign up rate. I am stunned by this even though it was designed for this. Come check it out, more content is being added daily and we've devised a system that will help all marketers if they get involved. That part will be unleashed when the membership level is high enough. Keep it up guys- the pre launch is going fantastic!
