Discount Tickets Walt Disney World: FAQ About Where to Buy Them

At some point, just about everyone planning a Disney vacation wonders if it is possible to purchase discount tickets to Walt Disney World. After all, the cost of park passes can end up being quite pricey, especially if you have a number of family members, or are planning a trip for more than a few days. In this lens, we will explore some of the most frequently asked questions about purchasing discounted Disney park passes.

For More Information About Discount Tickets: Walt Disney World

Discount Tickets Walt Disney World Question 1: Should I Buy Partially Used Park Passes?

The short answer to this is, No. Here is why: There is absolutely no way that you can determine, before you are at the theme park gate, how many days are left on a ticket, or if there are even any days left! Despite everything that a seller may swear to, there is just no way to be certain until you have that ticket scanned at the gate. If the seller was not truthful, well it is too late at that point for you to do anything about it.

Another thing to consider is that it is actually illegal in Florida for anyone to re-sell partially used tickets, and Disney does enforce this.

Protect yourself, and insure that your vacation does not get off on a bad start: only buy discount tickets to Walt Disney World from a reputable, authorized ticket broker, who will never sell partially used theme park passes.

Discount Tickets Walt Disney World Question 2: Is it Safe to Buy from eBay or Craigslist?

Despite how attractive the discounted price may be, it is extremely risky to purchase your tickets from eBay or Craigslist, for precisely the same reason given above: there is no way you can verify that the seller is being honest with you until you are at the gate. If they were a scammer, and chances are that they were, you will be out hundreds of dollars, and will have no recourse.

Sadly, there are a number of people who do prey on the unsuspecting and trusting vacationer. Don't be taken in by prices that seem too good to be true: they probably are. Always buy your discount tickets to Walt Disney World from an authorized ticket broker: look for the Disney logo on the website to insure the company is reputable.

Discount Tickets Walt Disney World Question 3: How do I Know I can Trust a Ticket Broker?

There are several criteria that I use to determine if an online ticket broker is reputable. After all, I will be investing several hundred dollars at a minimum, so I want to know that I can trust that my tickets will be valid!

First, I look to see if the company is an authorized seller of Disney tickets. If they are, they have the legal right to use the Disney logo identifying them as such.

Second, I like to see how long they have been in business, and if the company belongs to business organizations like the Chamber of Commerce or Better Business Bureau. These memberships indicate a company that is stable, and is doing business ethically.

Next I look at their prices and determine if all costs are noted upfront, ie: tax and any shipping fees. Some ticket brokers like to "hook" their customers with lower prices, but then add on the tax and shipping costs at the end, so they ultimately end up costing more. I want to see what costs are included, and if things like shipping are clearly noted on the website.

Lastly, I very definitely see if their costs are, in fact, "too good to be true", because if they are, there is a reason. Ticket brokers operate on a very low margin, so anyone who is advertising ticket prices that are absurdly low is either unethically selling used passes...or there is a timeshare presentation tied into receiving the tickets. Take a look at the bottom of the website and look a the fine print: if it says anything at all about "timeshare solicitation", well then you have to decide if you want to spend several hours of your vacation listening to a timeshare hard sell.
