Discover Credit Cards

Although Visa and MasterCard might be the forerunners of the credit card industry, Discover card has been increasing in popularity over the last decade or so. Except for student credit cards, most Discover cards have a comparatively low APR, and they never have an annual fee. They have also been commended for customer service and for fraud prevention. With more than 50 million cardholders and more than 4 million merchant locations, Discover is proving their critics wrong. When they first opened in the early 90's, their competition scoffed and it didn't look as though they would make it in the credit card industry. They were hoping to brand a new trend in credit cards, and they have succeeded after years of marketing and communication.

Discover provides similar reward benefits with different credit card product

The cool designing started some time ago, when Discover Card launched their clear card like Discover® Student Clear Card as an option for new applicants. It featured a mod, insistent bright bluish power system pattern over a darker bluish translucent background. The designing obviously caught on, as Discover have added a countless of new designing picks to their card pick menu. Next came the American Flag card, launched in response to the tidal moving ridge of nationalism that followed the 9/11 attacks on New House Of York and Washington, D.C. The up-to-the-minute in the series includes a choice of wildlife and sea life. The designing feature, for example, images of a tiger, barefaced bird of Jove and a slayer giant in their natural elements. Whether you are interested in designing that are see-through, artistic, loyal or simply natural and awe-inspiring, the alkalis are covered. Discover does it easy by providing similar reward benefits across its different credit card product. If you are most interested in free gasoline discounts or earning frequent circular miles with your adjacent credit card, the designing picks are a spot more limited, but no less interesting.

Discover® Student Card - Benefits and Rewards

All About the Benefits and Rewards

Moving on to the good part, the Discover Student Card definitely excels when it comes down to the rewards offered.

Skipping the point for trinkets type of reward plan many student credit cards offer, Discover begins with their renowned and unique Cashback Bonus® program. This means the rewards earned are given back in the form of a cash rebate allowing the freedom to spend in a variety of ways instead of only being able to redeem points for overpriced merchandise of limited choosing.

And the rebate rewards of the Discover Student Card do add up. In fact, a 5 to 20% Cashback Bonus is offered at some perpetual favorite online retailers like iTunes.com, Barnes and Noble, and Target.com - perfect for many of the most important regular purchases of college students.

Additional 5% rewards rotate across different categories including travel, gas, restaurants, and others throughout the year, allowing for the strategic accumulation of rewards.

Of course, the standard 1% bonus is applied automatically across the board on all other purchase.

Discover Motiva card that are worth mentioning. When you shop specific retailers through the Discover exclusive online shopping site, you earn between 5 and 20% cash back bonuses. I'm thinking about using the Discover Motiva to do my holiday shopping online- and hoping to get that 20% kickback. That's basically like saving 20% on my holiday shopping if I can work it out right- and considering I regularly spend around $1200 during the holidays, saving $240 is a decent amount of cash back. Discover doesn't limit the amount of cash rewards you can earn, either, which is nice compared to the majority of rewards programs that have a maximum earnings level.

transfer your balance to a lower interest credit card

The major issuers of credit cards, Visa, MasterCard, Amex, American Express and Discover, do not penalize for transferring balances, so transfer your balance to a lower interest credit card or one with a low introductory interest rate, or get a credit card debt consolidation loan. You see, what the big credit card issuers like American Express, Chase, Discover Card and Bank of America are hoping is that they will gain new customers by offering generous balance transfer deals. Also, what these credit card companies know is that the vast majority of these card holders will not pay off their balances before the introductory rate expires. Of course, if you can't pay off your balance before the introductory rate expires, you're not out of luck. You can always apply for a new credit card with a low introductory rate, and transfer your balance yet again. Still, if you are currently considering a credit card balance transfer I urge you to sit down and figure out exactly how much you owe on your current charge cards and set up a monthly pay schedule.

Annual Percentage Rate: With Discover credit card

The APR is a measure of the cost of credit, expressed as a yearly rate. It also must be disclosed before you become obligated on the account and on your account statements. Some credit card plans like Miles by Discover® Card allow the issuer to change your APR when interest rates or other economic indicators - called indexes - change. Because the rate change is linked to the index's performance, these plans are called 'variable rate' programs.

During a recent investigation, the Senate panel found Bank of America and Discover raised customers' rates because their overall credit scores dropped, not because of untimely payments. Moreover, the panel found neither bank could pinpoint the cause for a credit score drop because the system used to determine a score uses too many interrelated variables.

The Discover More Credit Card actually pays your rewards in cash. They pay a 5% Cashback Bonus for categories such as apparel, travel, home, gas, restaurants, movies and more. These categories change quarterly.

They also pay cashbacks of up to 20% for online purchases from top retailers at their exclusive shopping site.
