A Brief History of LegalShield

It all began nearly 40 years ago when Harland Stonecipher, LegalShield's former CEO & founder, was involved in a severe automobile accident and hospitalized as a result. To add insult to injury, the other party filed suit against Stonecipher which ended up depleting his life savings defending himself for something he didn't do. He realized that it was money, not rights, that gave individuals access to the legal system. From that point on Harland Stonecipher was committed to create an affordable solution for legal protection. That solution is LegalShield and they now provide legal services to over 1.4 million families between both the United States and Canada.

LegalShield is one of the first companies to design, underwrite, and market legal expense plans to consumers. LegalShield members pay one low monthly fee in return for a wide range of legal service, very similar to HMOs or medical reimbursement plans.
