Nice lens. You seem to have a similar philosophy on learning guitar to me. Personally, I prefer acoustic but play plenty of acoustic versions of electric stuff! I especially agree with your comments about bad habits. I wish I'd had some lessons early on and I also wish I'd started learning when I was younger and the ravages of playing too much sport hadn't robbed me of some of my dexterity! I'd be interested in what you think of my lens "Learn to play guitar - Ten practical tips on learning to play a guitar"

I really like how informative your lens is. You were able to put so much information, it's amazing. I agree about what you wrote in beginning about getting good lessons right away instead of trying to teach yourself first only to find out you've been doing it wrong. Everyone who wants to learn how to play guitar should read this.

Thanks for the kind words. Lessons are so important and it really puzzles me why people who claim to be self taught wear it as a badge of honour. I mean, it's just common sense to learn any new skill from others who know more than you do.

For those who want to learn guitar. Keep in mind that frustration is normal during the learning process. Acquiring a new talent is not meant to be easy. Overcoming obstacles is what helps us grow. So the next time you're practicing scales or chord progressions and you find yourself fumbling or messing up, don't throw down the guitar in frustration, instead, welcome the challenge and keep your patience.
