Discus Fish In The Wild
Wild Discus Fish Colors
Colors Of Discus Fish Found In The Wild
* Blue/Green: The Blue/Green Discus Fish are very similar to the brown but have more of a secondary color which can be either bluish or greenish.
* Royal Blue: The Royal Blue Discus Fish have a golden base and the secondary color forms stripes across the entire body. The Royal Blue Discus Fish was the origin of many of the developed color strains and are credited for the early fame of Discus. They can usually be distinguished from the selectively bred color forms by their less even base color. The golden color usually becomes a brighter yellow around the breast area.
* Red Spotted Green: The Red Spotted Green Discus Fish has reddish base color with a greenish secondary color. Spots of the red base color show through in areas. This is an extremely beautiful breed which is rarely found in the wild but shouldn't be a problem finding because it is being produced by several breeders.
* Heckel: The Heckel is a separate species it is in the S. Discus Family. Heckels can be identified by 3 vertical black bars which are much thicker than the others.
