Keeping up on the Mouse House

I enjoy reading everything that I can about the Walt Disney Company - its history, its current activities, stories about its inner workings, its future plans. I thought that other Disney fans might find interesting the various web sites that I peruse daily to get my fill of Disney information.

Disney News and Information Links

Here is my list of favorite Disney news and information sites. I've noted those offer an RSS feed, a very handy way to keep track of what's new on the site.

For those of you that don't know how to use the RSS feeds, fear not! All you have to do is check this lens of Disney News and Information RSS Feeds each day to read the latest updates.

Jim Hill Media

Jim Hill is a wealth of information on everything Disney, as well as a wonderful storyteller. His site is updated most weekdays with articles on all aspects of the Walt Disney Company, written by Jim and other interesting writers on his staff. This site has an RSS feed.

MiceAge

Al Lutz and Kevin Yee provide their well-informed perspectives on the state of the Disney parks. Nothing is sugar-coated on this site, but they seem to do a good job balancing the good with the bad.

MousePlanet

I look forward to MousePlanet's WDW and Disneyland Park updates every Monday morning. On other weekdays, MousePlanet offers articles on a variety of Disney topics, as well as DVD reviews. This site has an RSS feed.

MagicMusic.net Discussion Boards

As a collector of Disney music, I have found the MagicMusic.net discussion boards to be a great way to keep up with what is happening in the world of Disney music. What I like most about MagicMusic.net is that Randy Thornton, a high-level Producer at Walt Disney Records, posts on the boards on occasion to notify music fans of the latest releases. Nice to see a Disney VIP that tries to keep in touch with the fans! This site has an RSS feed.

Disney Theme Parks-Related TV

Kirby Bartlett-Sloan is kind enough to compile a list of Disney Parks TV shows each week. I especially like to watch the Disney Park specials that air on the Travel Channel.

WDWInfo Disney News

WDWInfo maintains a Disney News page that is updated regularly, at least several times each day. This site has an RSS feed.

AllEarsNet's News From Around the World

AllEarsNet has a page that provides the latest WDW news. I also like to check out Anita Answer, AllEarsNet's resident expert on Walt Disney World. This site has an RSS feed.

Orlando Sentinel
The Orlando Sentinel maintains an RSS feed on the local tourism industry. You can read about what's going on, not only at WDW, but also at the other theme parks. The feed also covers interesting stories on travel industry issues as they affect Orlando, including the airline and hotel industries. This site has an RSS feed.

Disney-related Blogs

A lot of people like to write about the Walt Disney Company on a regular basis. I've listed below these Disney fan blogs that I like to follow. All of these blogs offer an RSS feed.
Blue Sky Disney
Honor Hunter's thoughtful essays cover many aspects of the Walt Disney Company - movies, theme parks, books, management, animation, and a healthy dose of Disney history for good measure.

Disney and More
Alain Littaye's writing focuses on the Disney parks, past, present, and future. I especially look forward to his informative updates on the non-US parks in Tokyo, Paris, and Hong Kong.

Ricky Brigante hosts this blog on his Distant Creations web site. While many of the entries are about Disney, other topics are featured as well, including other entertainment companies, collectibles, and technology.

Foxxfur describes her blog as "seriously considered, useful and applicable criticism on the art of design, function, and meaning of themed "space" as practiced by the Walt Disney Company."

Re-Imagineering
There are a number of writers that contribute to this blog. It describes itself as "a forum for Pixar and Disney professionals to catalog past Imagineering missteps and debate solutions in hopes that a new creative management can restore some of the magic that has been missing from the parks for decades."

The Disney Blog
The Disney Blog features news stories about the Walt Disney Company and related entertainment businesses by several writers, and includes John Frost's daily "roundup" news item summary.

The Other Orlando
"Orlando's Not A One-Mouse Town And This Is The Site That Proves It!" Seth Kubersky and Kelly Monaghan discuss other entertainment options in the vacation capital of Florida.

Ultimate Orlando
Kevin Yee shares his thoughts and observations on Walt Disney World, as well as other Orlando entertainment options.

Disney-related Podcasts

And then there are those that can't just write about the Walt Disney Company, they have to talk about it as well. I find the podcasts below to be a great diversion while commuting to work and getting exercise.
Inside the Magic

Ricky Brigante's weekly podcast is a very entertaining way to keep up on WDW news, and to also get a little dose of that Disney magic when you can't make it to the parks.

MouseStation

Former Disney cast member Mike Demopoulos and MousePlanet editor and staff columnist Mark Goldhaber host this MousePlanet podcast. They cover Walt Disney Company news via their MousePlanetWatch feed. They also provide information, reviews, and tips concerning the Disney Parks, and interview interesting Disney people "in-the-know".
The WDW Radio Show

Lou Mongello, author of the Walt Disney World Trivia books and the owner of the DisneyWorldTrivia.com website offers a weekly podcast chock full of Walt Disney World News, Rumors, Interviews, Disney Trivia, History, Vacation Planning, Attraction, Dining & Resort Reviews, Contests, Special Guests, & More.
WDW Today

Their slogan, "Give us 5 minutes, and we will give you the World," says it all. Matt Hochberg, Mike Newell, Mike Scopa, and Len Testa work together to provide a succinct, no frills, yet fun and informative podcast several times each week.

Corporate and Financial Information

The Walt Disney Company Corporate Web Site
This is the WDC's own information web site. It provides facts about the company and its many business units, news releases, stockholder and investment information (including copies of its annual reports), and even company history and biographical information on Walt Disney himself.

Yahoo! Finance
More than you could ever want to know about the WDC from a financial point-of-view: stock price and history, key statistics, analysts' opinions, etc..

Contacting The Walt Disney Company

The Walt Disney Company is a huge corporation made up of many divisions and businesses. It can be difficult to figure out who to get in touch with for specific questions and concerns. The links below provide information on how to contact Very Important People in many areas within the company.
help.savedisneyshows.org
This website maintains a very extensive list of contacts within the Disney-ABC companies. Many are related to ABC Television and the Disney Channel, but other areas of the company are covered, as well as the Board of Directors.

Allearsnet's Walt Disney World Contacts
Allearsnet maintains a contact list of people associated with the WDW resort.

Books, CDs, and other Media

Here's a list of items about all things Disney. If you're a diehard Disney fan, you'll probably want to own some of these!

Bill Cotter's Disney Photo Collection on eBay

Park photos and a whole lot more!

Bill Cotter, author of "The Wonderful World of Disney Television: A Complete History", has an amazing collection of vintage Disney park photos on CDs that he sells on his eBay store. His collection also includes photos of various World's Fairs that have been held around the world, as well as other theme parks. I have purchased over a dozen of his CDs, and I know Bill to be a trustworthy eBay seller.
