Off To See Mickey Mouse!

What do you get when you combine a Walt Disney Vacation, Mother's Day and all the members coming are your children and grandchildren? That's right a Disney Family Reunion!

This year that is exactly what we are planning to do. My mother-in-law is going to try to attend as well. That means we are making travel plans for seventeen people, four generations!

The key to our success will be plenty of planning, preparation and communication! Since most of the family is scattered across the country - literally coast to coast - we decided to break everything down.

Making Our List

Make A List!Since such a large number of people are coming to one location we decided to start with that. Lodging is important and we want to make sure we get the bang for our buck! Lots of families start in resort hotels and there are certainly perks that go along with them, but we decided to rent a home.

Renting a home offers us some peace and quiet while calming down after a long day. It also allows us to shop and cook for our family to save money on eating out. We can pack less clothing since there will be a washer and dryer on location. The kids can enjoy the pool while the grown-ups soak in the hot tub.

Two of my sons actually live in Florida and intend to drive down, but the rest of us will need rental cars. We are looking into a few options - two full sized or one 15 passenger. Until we have a complete itinerary we wont know which will be best for us.

Packing For Disney

According to my research and after years of being a Mom, I can tell you eating out at a theme park can get quite spendy! Pack a lunch and water bottle to save money! Using a fanny pack may not be a fashion statement but it will sure come in handy at Disney! It may also limit the possibility of getting pick pocketed.

Considering Disney World is 47 miles (approx).. drinking water will be a must! Choosing a water bottle with a strap will be helpful! You can easily refill it throughout the day. Remember to stay hydrated!!

This tool that will be useful at Disney or any festival or theme park will be one of those water bottle fans. Its just the trick for cooling off and you can use the bottle to drink from as well.

Lost Parents Assistance!

Make sure when you and your family enter the park, you point out a staff member. At Disney they are called 'cast members'. In the event you and your child get separated they are to know to look for a cast member.

Make sure you put your child's name and your name and cell phone number on a card or temporary tattoo or even on a piece of fabric and pin to your child's collar. Make sure to list any allergies the child may have! That way a cast member can help the child get reunited with you as quickly as possible. Never put your child's name in a visible place!!

We are got the kids Child Safety ID Wrist Bands. I felt that was the smart way to go.

Packed And Ready To Go!

Well Almost

My hubby and I are starting to walk everyday now. We are building up our endurance so the park doesn't get the better of us. We are all looking forward to this vacation and Im sure we will have a blast!
