Disney Lanyards and Other Space Saving Devices

Disney pin trading is extremely popular, but there are some fuzzy areas of trading etiquette.

In theory, any pin that is displayed is considered open for trading. However, some collectors are particularly fond or proud of individual pins, and wear them simply for display purposes. A Disney lanyard comes in very handy here, as wearing it basically proclaims "Hi! I'm here, and ready to trade and meet others who share my hobby. I'll show you mine if you show me yours.".

If you don't feel like socializing, the Disney lanyard can be simply removed and packed away, plus the lanyard itself is a focus point for traders. When approached about other pins on your person, you can simply say "Sorry, just the ones on the lanyard", and most traders should be more than happy to keep their interest there.

Of course, the other good reason for a lanyard is so that you have a single place to keep your Disney pins! Do you really feel like putting on and taking off all those pins with every change of clothes? And it's easier and safer to give someone a closer look by lifting the lanyard slightly, rather than actually handing them the pin to look at.

Of course, room keys (Keys To The World), park entrance tickets, and FastPasses are all so small that they can easily be stuffed into a wallet, jammed into a pocket, or stuck just about anywhere your little heart desires.

But how often have you been stuck waiting in line with your arms full of goodies, only to be trying to pay and unzipping, unlatching, and pulling other things out of the way before finally grabbing the desired item? Not to mention having to pull them out and baggy them up before going on any water rides, or hiding in a store instead of romping around the parks during a rain storm.

The Disney holder lanyards take care of all that, keeping everything within easy reach, and hard to lose or steal places (you can even tuck them under your shirt for safe keeping), and being plastic makes it more difficult to give your items a soaking.

Plus, they make great souvenirs, and can double as pin lanyards.

Florida and California tend to be warmer than other parts of the country, so staying hydrated is extra important. Of course, most of us don't drink 12-24 oz of water in one sitting, but at $2.50-$3.50 for a bottle of water, you certainly don't want to waste a drop!

Aside from sharing a single bottle among your group, the only solution is to carry the bottle with you. If you have a purse or a backpack, a bottle will usually fit in there, but if not you're stuck carrying it in your hand.

That's where these clever little water bottle carabiners come in so handy- they just clip the bottle right to your belt! Of course, you may have problems with the bottles swinging and hitting your hip as you walk, and so there's always the bottle lanyards (below).

As I said above, it's very important to stay hydrated. On every trip to Walt Disney World, I see people who have collapsed from heat exhaustion and dehydration even in January. This past year, I almost was one.

But drinking too much water at once can make you sick, and will not help you to stay hydrated for long.

If you find that the water bottle carabiners (see above) are uncomfortable, or if you don't have a belt or loops for a belt at the waist, a water bottle lanyard will come in the most handy.

The Disney lanyards are long enough to be slung over your neck, and in most cases are long enough to be worn over the shoulder.

Some of us even hang our Pal Mickey's from the water bottle lanyards instead of clipping him to a belt or bag! Of course, that's only if you're lucky enough to have a Pal Mickey as they're no longer being made.
