How to store your Disney trading pin collection

 

If you're addicted to Disney pin trading like my family is, at some point you'll need to figure out how to store all those pins. This page takes a look at your options for pin trading bags, books, albums, and cork boards.

Disney Pin Trading Bags 

Disney pin trading bags are canvas or synthetic leather with zipper closure and soft, thick pages for arranging pins. They generally include a short handle and a longer, adjustable shoulder strap, and official Disney pin trading bags usually have an embroidered decoration on the outside featuring the pin trading logo or a character-themed design. Each page is two-sided, with one open end with Velcro closure. You can stick pins through the page and attach the pin back by reaching in the open end.

Pros: Holds lots of pins. Easy and secure for carrying.

Cons: Attaching the pin backs and lining up the pins neatly can be challenging.

Disney Pin Trading Storage Book 

A pin trading book is a simple 3-ring binder or post-bound scrapbook or photo album with special pages. The pages may be rigid plastic, cloth- or velvet-covered cardboard, or craft foam sheets. The binder can be open or have a zipper closure. You can buy an official Disney-themed binder or save some money by making your own.

Pros: A homemade binder is inexpensive and can be made in a variety of sizes depending on your needs. A pin book is easily carried for travel.

Cons: Without a zipper closure, pins can easily be lost when a back comes off, as they sometimes do. Pins in a binder can get scratched unless you use sheet protectors or some kind of page dividers.

Make Your Own Disney Trading Pin Book 

With a few ready-to-use craft and office supplies, you can easily make your own storage book for your Disney pins. If you'll be carrying the pins with you when you go trading, use a 3-ring binder that zips shut to protect your pins. If you don't need the protection of a closed book, choose a more decorative photo album or scrapbook album.

For the pages, an easy and inexpensive option is craft foam sheets. They come in lots of colors, and they are easily trimmed to fit any size album or binder. Use a 3-hole punch to fit the foam sheets in the binder, and add clear sheet protectors or extra foam pages as dividers to protect the pins from scratches.

Cork Boards for Disney Pin Storage 

A cork board is an excellent way to store your Disney pin collection and keep your pins on display. Pin bulletin boards can be a simple sheet of bare cork, or you can dress it up with a frame or fabric covering.

Pros: Can be very inexpensive. Pins are always on display, so you can enjoy them all the time. The display board can be fun, with Disney fabric or a brightly colored frame, or it can be covered in black velvet for a subtle background that will really show off the beauty of the pins.

Cons: Larger collections can take up a lot of space on a cork board. Taking your collection with you for trading is next to impossible without transferring the pins to some other storage solution.

Make an inexpensive and unique display for your Disney pins with a cork board and some fabric or scrapbook paper. Scrapbook paper is really cheap and comes in tons of patterns to fit any theme. Rolled Cork for Large Pin Displays 

Rolls of cork are great for displaying a large collection of pins without spending a ton of money for a large cork board. When buying rolled cork for pins, be sure to check the thickness measurement to see if you'll need to use a double layer.
