The image of the Evil Queen in Disney's Snow White is one of my earliest memories of going to the movies. My father tells me that it is his too - although he saw it when it was first released in 1937, and he took me to see it as a small child in the early 70s. The shadow of the Snow Queen projected onto the wall is one of Disney's most powerful movie images.
Snow White is a classic story of envy. The Queen cannot tolerate the reality that Snow White is now more beautiful than she.

Maleficent
The Villain of the Sleeping Beauty movie
Maleficent appears in the 1959 Sleeping Beauty. She is perhaps the most powerful and memorable of all the Disney villains. She proclaims herself to be 'mistress of all evil'.
Maleficent's appearance is menacing - with pale skin, yellow eyes and enormous black horns. Enraged at not being invited to Princess Aurora's christening she puts a curse on the infant proclaiming that she will prick her finger and die before her sixteenth birthday.
