Disney Pixar's Beautiful Ratatouille Blu-Ray Movie

See Remy and his friends in all the glory of blu-ray! A beautiful film.

Ratatouille Blu-Ray Movie

Starting off the list of Walt Disney blu-ray movies is Ratatouille. That should come as no surprise. The animation of Ratatouille is amazing. The Movie Mom says, "the line between humans and computer animation all but dissolves." The blu-ray version should be exquisite and this movie will, no doubt, have you wanting to travel to France and eat ratatouille! Rated G, the Movie Mom gave the original version of this movie a 'B+.'

"I've reviewed over 500 next-gen discs over the last year and a half, and not one has received a perfect five star rating overall, but there's a first time for everything and I'm happy to report that 'Ratatouille' is it. This is a must-own disc that no Blu-ray collection should be without."

Many called Ratatouille The Best Film Of The Year ~~ These Links Will Take You To Some Great Ratatouille Blu-ray Reviews

High-Def Digest
Are you skeptical about a movie about rats cooking in a restaurant? Well, set your skepticism aside and check out this review. Author Peter M. Bracke says Ratatouille is a huge Pixar accomplishment -- "adventurous, witty, visually captivating and utterly charming." The blu-ray has perfect video, audio and extras which, by the way, this review is also full of!
HomeTheaterSpot.Com
Chad Varnadore of HomeTheaterSpot.com gives Ratatouille blu-ray 5 paws up! He said that both the audio and video are breathtaking and that he's not sure how they could have made this look or sound any better. Plus, the extras add more! "Animated storytelling just doesn't get any better. And neither do high def discs."
Den of Geek
Simon Brew says that this is the best-looking HD disc he has seen because of the stunning level of detail. The sound is strong (although not in action-movie style) and the extras are plenty. Pixar's best film to date.

WALL-E ~~ Everyone's Favorite Robot!

Featuring Ben Burtt, Elissa Knight, Jeff Garlin, Fred Willard, and MacInTalk

wall-e blu-ray disc movie

In a galaxy not so far away, you will find a robot named WALL-E. A funny movie in which the funny characters travel across the universe. This blu-ray Disney movie includes the short animated film called BURN-E.

The Movie Mom gave this movie an 'A-.' It is a G rated movie, suitable for all ages and The Movie Mom agrees. She says that it has no profanity, alcohol, drugs or diversity issues. It does feature a kiss, tension and peril and "themes of environmental degredation and toxic waste."

"Wall-E is a must-own title on Blu-ray and deserves a place in every Blu-ray collection. In fact, this is a film that is destined to sell more than a few Blu-ray players. Wall-E easily earns my highest recommendation."

Wall-E is still one of the best films of the year. A wonderfully detailed review of Wall-E on blu-ray. Author, Clydefro Jones says, Wall-E is still among Pixar's very best and far superior to most of the 2008 releases thus far. The Blu-ray is a triumph and easily sits alongside the best of the year, as well.

"Our own Adam Frucci reviewed Wall-E, calling it 'one of the best sci-fi movies in years, disguised as a cartoon.' And if that's true for the film (which I believe it is), then I'd have to call the Blu-ray version of the film 'one of the best art classes in years, disguised as a movie.' "

Kung-Fu Panda ~~ An Action Packed Movie by Dreamworks

Featuring David Cross, Angelina Jolie, Ian McShane, Jackie Chan and Dustin Hoffman

Kung Fu Panda is NOT a Disney movie as you probably already know; I have left it on this list because it is a very popular blu-ray purchase aimed at children.

kung fu panda blu-ray disc movie

An action-packed film that features many funny moments, excellent animation and an important message - believe in yourself!

Features on this film include audio commentary by the directors, 84 minutes of short films including Meet the Cast, Conversation International: Help Save Wild Pandas, an introduction to kung fu, and much, much more including play activities, short music videos from other Dreamworks animated movies and, of course, theatrical previews.

Raged PG because of the violence, the Movie Mom recommends this for children in Kindergarten and up. She gave the movie a 'B.' Be aware that this film has a lot of kung fu fighting with characters being beaten about. It also has a scary villain, death and some crude language and humor.

Elastic Pop
Kung Fu Panda is definitely a film for the whole family. Aside from its positive message of self belief, the film is a wildly, exciting ride that should entertain kids and adults alike, for years to come.

Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty ~~ A Beautiful Restoration!

Two-Disc Platinum Edition Plus Standard DVD and BD Live

sleeping beuaty blu-ray disc movie

One of Walt Disney's most amazing animated stories, it took four and a half years to complete. The finished product included a million drawings! The artists were influenced by the colors of the 15th century French and Amazon calls the results 'sheer visual opulence.' No doubt that is why this is one of Disney's first releases to blu-ray. Amazon's write up says that the bonus DVD looks good but that the blu-ray is far superior. Extras include a visit to Sleeping Beauty's castle in Disneyland and a television program called Four Artists Paint One Tree.

A fantastic idea, this blu-ray disc includes a regular DVD for families who have not invested in blu-ray technology yet but who do plan to do so.

The BD-live feature allows you to send messages that pop up during the film, chat online with other people who might also be watching and synch it with others.

Tinker Bell ~~ Tinker Bell Speaks For The First Time!

Features Mae Whitman, Kristin Chenoweth, Raven-Symone, Lucy Liu, America Ferrara, Jane Horrocks, Jesse McCartney, Jeff Bennett, Rob Paulsen, Pamela Adlon, Anjelica Huston, Loreena and More!

This is a Tink's story released for the first time! I am having the most difficulty describing this movie in my own words because I have never seen it. However, here is my best shot with a little help from a couple of reviewers. I encourage you to click the links that follow the Tinker Bell section and read their reviews; they have experienced Tink and they have done a great job of reviewing the movie.

Tink on Blog Critics Magazine mentioned that this is a brand new story with only new artwork (as opposed to a film transferred to blu-ray) which should prove to be a great opportunity for the blu-ray technology and, in some cases, perfect for any woman who wants to check out a blu-ray film that shows beautifully that is not a "shoot-em-up, high energy, big impact film."

Tiner Bell (two words, by the way) was born into Pixie Hollow and she doesn't think she is as special as the other fairies so she sets about trying to change herself which, of course doesn't work. Her friends help her discover that she has unique tinker qualities and, when she believes in herself, magical things occur.

Aimed at young girls, perhaps five to nine-year olds, this movie is, apparently, successful. Quoted below is what happens when one reviewer gathers a group of five-year olds to screen the film. The result is precious and possibly proof of the success of this film.

In addition, the movie is apparently entertaining for adults as it turned out to be a very good quality computer-animated film with a great color palette and likeable characters. This movie takes advantage of the blu-ray format allowing a crisp amaphoric picture and a wonderful soundtrack.

"Disney's Blu-ray Tinker Bell is, as expected, exceptional. Featuring flawless audio and video transfers and a nice mix of kid-centric special features and BD-Live compatibility, households with small children should not hesitate to add Tinker Bell to their Blu-ray libraries."

Beyond Tinker Bell: Disney and Blu-ray Enhance the Movie Experience
Another fantastic movie review of Tinker Bell. This one does a really good job of talking about the whole experience with the extras that are available in blu-ray format. It is also a great look at blu-ray from a women's perspective.
Blu-ray Review: Tinker Bell
"Have you ever wondered how nature gets its glow? Who gives it light and color as the seasons come and go?" With those two short sentences, kids of all ages are drawn into Disney's latest CG animated movie Tinker Bell. The feisty fairy we all know and love as Peter Pan's wing man (er, girl) finally gets her due with her own movie.

Tinker Bell as experienced with a group of five year olds included...

"Lots of going back to re-watch parts of it. Debates over who had the best wings, the prettiest dress, etc. Most of all, and more important I think, lots of oohs and aahs of delight as the story and animation took them to Neverland." - Tink, Blog Critics Magazine

Spread A Little Movie Magic...Have You Seen Tinker Bell? If So, Would You Recommend Tinker Bell For Your Daughter?

Tinker Bell, the movie, has received some mixed reviews. Although I have read that it is perfect for children and entertaining for adults. I would love to hear what you have to say, if you have seen the movie. Any words you are able to leave here will be of assistance, no doubt, to other parents who are debating whether or not to invest in this movie.

HI Brenda! In addition to my opinion piece on Tinker Bell and the Disney BD experience I have a review of the movie, also on BlogCritics. You can find it here: http://blogcritics.org/archives/2008/10/27/214743.php

I think that it's a good movie for all ages. The morals of the story, be yourself and proud of who you are, work because on one hand they are subtle however you can't miss the messages.

Thanks for reading my article and taking the time to leave a comment.

The Movie Mom gives The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe an 'A-' and considers it appropriate for children in grades four to six. It is rated PG for battle sequences and frightening moments. Prince Caspian Blu-ray Review by dBTechno
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment did a great job with the Blu-ray release of Narnia: Prince Caspian as it has a great transfer, as well as plentiful extras. The only downside is the movie itself which does not match up to the magic of the original. Still for fans of Narnia, this is a must-buy!
Blog Critics Magazine
While not the powerhouse adventure the original was, Prince Caspian is a fun, enjoyable Chronicles of Narnia follow-up. The action is bigger, visual effects (mostly) stunning, and the scale feels more involved.

The Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy ~~ Featuring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley

pirates of the caribbean trilogy blu-ray discs movies

Three Disney blockbuster movies, they need no introduction! Reviews say that the blu-ray is great -- excellent picture and excellent sound. That would make one heck of a pirating experience!

The Movie Mom gives Pirates of the Caribbean The Curse of the Black Pearl a 'B+' and recommends it for children in middle school. It includes pirate talk; sexual references including prostitutes and a revealing bodice; drinking and drunkenness; and violence. It does include a strong female and a strong minority character.

The Movie Mom gives Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest an 'A-' and recommends it for children in the fourth to sixth grades. It is rated PG-13 for 'intense sequences of adventure violence, including frightening images' and includes sailor talk, mild sexual references and kisses, drinking and considerable violence, including whipping and a monster that is scary. It does does include a strong female.

The Movie Mom gives Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End a 'B' and recommends it for children in the fourth to sixth grades. It is rated PG-13 for 'intense sequences of action/adventure violence and some frightening images' and includes pirate talk, kisses, drinking and considerable violence, including some that is grisly with a comic twist. Once again, here is a movie that I haven't seen but I know my sons (now teens) really enjoyed this movie because it is funny. Apparently, the humor is great for children and for parents and this film also contains excellent visuals and a great assortment of characters. One of Paul Newman's last 'appearances.'

The Movie Mom gives this film a 'B+' and recommends it for children from Kindergarten up. It does contain some 'brief G-rated crude language and mild crude humor and vandalism. Characters are in peril and there is some mild violence, but no one gets hurt.'

Thank You to The Movie Mom -- Nell Minow

Whenever a new movie came out, my family could be heard to say, "What does the Movie Mom say?"

My children are teenagers now and able to see most if not quite all of the movies that interest them. However, throughout their younger years, our family was a big fan of The Movie Mom. Whenever a new movie came out, we would turn to her for her recommendations in terms of age appropriateness and quality of the movie. We used a combination of her book and websites that she has been involved with over the years. We still look to her reviews for an indication of the quality of a movie and to know what is in it that we might not care to see.

Throughout this page, I have referenced The Movie Mom's comments and ratings of the movies. I hope you will find them helpful in selecting blu-ray movies for your family. If you are a parent who is concerned about what his or her children see in the movies they watch, you will appreciate The Movie Mom's reviews and comments. Be sure to check out her reviews.
