It is amazing how many modern-day actors and actresses have worked on a Disney project at some point in their career. Some of the contributions are well known, others, not so much. See if you know about these talents and their Disney Connections.

Charlton Heston

The first time I remember seeing Charlton Heston was on TV, watching "Planet of the Apes." Charlton's performance, especially in the final scene, made quite the impression on me. I grew to appreciate his acting skills even more while watching him in such classic movies as "Ben Hur," "The Ten Commandments," and "Soylent Green."

The Disney Connection: Charlton Heston lent his voice for the introduction of Disney's animated feature "Hercules," as well as Touchstone Pictures' "Armageddon." Charlton also had a role in Hollywood Pictures' western, "Tombstone."

Madeline Kahn

From Eunice Burns in "What's Up Doc?", to her roles in many Mel Brooks movies like "Young Frankenstein" and "High Anxiety", Madeline Kahn was always able to make me laugh hysterically.

The Disney Connection: Madeline provided the voice for Gypsy Moth in the Disney/Pixar Movie "A Bug's Life". This might be a stretch, but Madeline also had a cameo in "The Muppet Movie", and the Muppets are now owned by the Walt Disney Company.

Kevin Kline

I actually saw Kevin Kline live on Broadway in the early 80's, playing The Pirate King in a revival of "The Pirates of Penzance". He has had a number of great dramatic and comedic roles, including "The Big Chill", "Sliverado", "A Fish Called Wanda", "Wild, WIld West", and "In & Out".

The Disney Connection: Kevin voiced the main character Phoebus in Disney's animated feature "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".

Bette Midler

Getting her big start with an outrageous (and often rauchy) musical act, Bette Midler has had an amazing career, spanning Broadway, the big screen, television, and even Vegas, earning herself two Oscar nominations, as well as Grammy, Emmy, and Tony awards.

The Disney Connection: Through a contract with Touchstone Pictures (a film division of The Walt Disney Company), Bette made a quite a few hit comedies, including "Down and Out in Beverly Hills," "Ruthless People," "Outrageous Fortune," and "Big Business," as well as the drama "Beaches." She starred as Winifred the witch in Walt Disney Picture's "Hocus Pocus." Bette also voiced the character Georgette the poodle in Disney's "Oliver & Company." And Bette was actually part of a Walt Disney World attraction, appearing in a short movie called "The Lottery." This movie was used on the Backlot Tour at the then Disney/MGM Studios to help show how films are made.

Donny Osmond

I was well aware of Donny Osmond when he was a teen idol, mainly because my sister had a huge crush on him and would play his music incessantly. I was a big fan of the Donny and Marie variety show in the 1970's. I still enjoy his music, including his Christmas CD, as well as the cast recording of his turn playing Joseph in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat".

The Disney Connection: The Osmond Brothers were actually discovered at Disneyland. Donny provided the singing voice for Shang in the Disney animated feature "Mulan". He also took a turn as Gaston on Broadway in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast".

Annie Potts

Annie is probably best known for her role as Mary Jo Shively in the TV sitcom "Designing Women", but I first came to know and love her when she played Iona in the movie "Pretty In Pink", as well as Janine Melnitz in the Ghost Busters movies.

The Disney Connection: Annie voiced the character Bo Peep in the Disney/Pixar movies "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2".

Ming-Na Wen

I first remember seeing Ming-Na on the TV sitcom "The Single Guy". The show didn't last, but she sure has. She is probably best known for the role of Dr. Jing-Mei Chen on the TV drama "ER".

The Disney Connection: Ming-Na provided the voice of Mulan in Disney's animated feature. She has continued to voice that character in other movies and TV shows as well.

Have I missed something?
