Visit Disneyland During the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort
Disneyland is considered to be the most magical and the happiest place on earth. The magic is felt even stronger over the holidays when it combines with the joy and spirit of the season. Visiting Disneyland for the holiday season is even more magical. As they say "spirit of the season shines brighter during Holidays."
This year the holiday season at Disneyland runs from November 12, 2010 to January 2, 2011.
For me, Disneyland is the most magical at night; this is when the magic feelings seem to be magnified, covering everyone with a sprinkling of pixie dust that affects young and old alike.
Visiting Disneyland at the holidays is a time to feel like a child again and see Disneyland through the eyes of your children or grandchildren.
This lens focuses on the rides and events that make the Holiday Season at Disneyland such a magical time. I am also including what is new at Disneyland and California Adventures for those visiting during the 2010 Holidays.
Even if you can make it to Disneyland for Christmas this year, it is my hope that by reading this lens and watching the videos you'll experience a bit of the Disney Magic and maybe even get a bit of a feeling that you've been there.

How to Have a Magical Disneyland Christmas
Disneyland changes many of their attractions for Christmas and hosts some special Christmas events. Take a look at some of the special events that only happen during the Holidays at Disneyland listed below.
I've also included information on the newest Disney Princess Rapunzel, from "Tangled," who is going to be visiting Disneyland during the holidays and may stay through the Spring as well as the new feature World of Color in Disney California Adventure.
There is also information on Pirates of the Caribbean ride because it is one of my all time favorites and has become a family favorite as well.

Sleeping Beauty Winter Castle
Enjoy Sleeping Beauty's Castle
With more than 50,000 shimmering lights and the snow-capped turrets and finials to create the effect of glistening snow and sparkling icicle lights, Sleeping Beauty's Winter Castle is an amazing sight to experience. You can get a preview by watching the video clip below.
Inside the Castle
One of my favorite attractions was being able to walk through the inside of Sleeping Beauty's Castle and read the story of Sleeping Beauty now known as the "Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough."
Disneyland has updated the original walkthrough attraction that I remembered as a kid to include additional features and stunning effects (some of which might be scary for preschool aged family members). With this attraction you get to wander through winding hallways (inside the castle) and view the dazzling three-dimensional scenes inspired by the original artwork created for Sleeping Beauty by Eyvind Earle.

Haunted Mansion Holiday
Visit the Haunted Holiday Mansion
One of my favorite holiday rides is seeing how they have transformed the normal Haunted Mansion into a Haunted Holiday Mansion.The Haunted Mansion rides is taken over by Jack Skellington and his friends and foes from ''Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas" and transformed into a Halloween-inspired Christmas ride. The mansion and surroundings are decorated with jack-o-lanterns, Sandy Claws and Audio-Animatronics figure Jack, trickster Oogie Boogie and Sally.
Parents should note that while the ride itself is gentle young children may be frightened by the special effects. By watching the video clip below you can get an idea if the ride will be suitable for your child or children.

Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland
Pirates of the Caribbean, the ride opened in Disneyland in 1967 and I rode this ride as a child as well. It was Disneyland's largest Audio-Animatronic project to date at the time. Since then Pirates of the Caribbean has gone on to become one of the favorite rides, even inspiring the successful Pirates of the Caribbean movies and one of the most inspiring pirates in Captain Jack Sparrow.On this ride you venture into the Caribbean and into a world filled with pillaging pirates led by Captain Barbossa. They have updated the ride to include new effects and enhancements inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean films.
Parents should be aware that younger children may be frightened by the special effects.

Tangled Joins Disneyland
To celebrate the release of Disney's 50th animated feature, Tangled Disneyland has incorporate the new film as a special Meet and Greet area into the Disneyland Resort Park in Anaheim, California.Visitors to Disneyland can meet Rapunzel and Flynn from Tangled are brought to life in the part at Tangled
You can find the new Tangled area in Fantasyland located between Pinocchio's ride and the Village Haus cafe.
The Tangled meet-and-greet is expected to remain in place at least through the holiday season. Depending on the popularity of the film, it may remain until the Spring or even the Summer of 2011.

The Princess and the Frog at Disneyland
To coincide with the release of The Princess and the Frog Disneyland hosted Tiana's Showboat Jubilee on the banks for the Rivers of America. The river would come alive in a dynamic, colorful, jazz-filled spectacle featuring characters, music and the exuberant spirit of the New Orleans.
It was a limited-engagement show which ran from November 6, 2009 to January 3, 2010. A great performance and fun time. We caught the show each of the three days we were there.

- I actually went to Disneyland for my friend's birthday which is Dec 5th a couple of years ago and it was beautiful (but cold which I didn't expect in Southern CA) all decorated for Christmas. I would love to go at that time again.
