Disney-MGM Studios

Disney opened the Disney MGM Studios (now know as Disney's Hollywood Studios) theme park on May 1st, 1989 and it became the third park at Walt Disney World resort.

Disney MGM Studios is a themed park, modeled after show business and Hollywood circa the 1930's & 1940's. MGM studios park made records in 2007 when it hosted over 9 million guests that year to become the 4th most visited amusement park in the US and 7th most visited world wide.

Hollywood Studios features six different themed areas and is set up to resemble a real movie studio set. When you first enter the park, you take a walk down Hollywood Boulevard where you can pick up souvenirs for yourself or the folks back home.

Be sure not to miss the A.T.A.S Hall of Fame Plaza where past and present legends of television are displayed as busts. Also on Hollywood Boulevard you'll find "The Great Movie Ride" which takes you on a flash back adventure to great films past.

Streets of America is the next themed area, designed to resemble a New York set with a hint of San Francisco and Chicago flair. In this section you will find the Jim Henson Muppet Vision 3D, the Studio Backlot tour, the Hone I Shrunk the Kids adventure set and more.

Moving along, you come to Mickey Avenue, the third themed area in Disney's MGM Studios park. See actual pieces of the set of the Narnia movie at Journey in to Narnia. Don't miss Toy Story Mania, opening in May 2008.

The kids will love Animation Courtyard, the fourth section in the park which features past and present Disney and Pixar animated icons. If your little ones like the Little Mermaid, you won't want to miss the live show. Plus, Playhouse Disney Live on Stage is in this same area where you can catch a live performance featuring the Playhouse Disney character puppets. Animation Courtyard is also a perfect place to meet the Disney characters "in person" on the street.

Last but not least, there's Sunset Boulevard. This section is the most recent addition to Disney MGM Studios, as it was added in 1994. This section houses Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage, Aerosmith's "Rock 'n' Roller Coaster", an inside roller coaster thats not for the weak stomached. If you like thrill rides, you wont want to miss the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
