Disneynature Oceans Will Take You Places You Have Never Been

The third Disneynature film, Disneynature Oceans arrived in theatres on Earth Day, April 22, 2010 promising to be another beautiful nature documentary.

As Disney did with the second Disneynature film, Earth, it announced that it would make a donation toward saving the coral reefs for each and every person who attended the movie during the opening week of April 22nd to 28th.

Donations were made to The Nature Conservancy under the program which is being called "See OCEANS, Save Oceans." The program provided assistance primarily to the coral reefs located in The Dominican Republic, Papua New Guinea and Palau.

The first film, called Earth, broke records for a nature documentary in the week it opened at theatres and it also broke the record for the single-day box-office for a nature documentary. Did Disneynature Oceans compare? Read on...

Disneynature Oceans Review

"Oceans is a movie that has to been seen to be believed. The footage, which was painstakingly gathered over several years, is nothing short of remarkable and I say that having already seen Planet Earth. A joint venture among Walt Disney Studios and the French studios of Notro Films and Galatee Films, the movie does take advantage of the enviro-soapbox but it is still able to entrance the audience by providing a glimpse into the power and mystery of the oceans." ~~ Collider.com

DisneyNature Oceans Blu-ray Reviews

Disneynature: Oceans Blu-ray review by DVDTown

"You'd think that the world really doesn't need yet another Blu-ray of ocean life, but because Disneynature captures a number of things on camera for the first time, it's a respectable addition to anyone's growing library of nature films. And the production values? Disney tends to do things right, and I'm glad they've gotten into the nature-film business again."

Oceans Blu-ray Review by Blu-ray.com

"Oceans may not be a traditional nature documentary, but it is a poignant, cinematic alternative that captures the majesty and magnificence of Earth's vast undersea kingdoms. Disney's Blu-ray beaut is just as extraordinary, and well worth its asking price. Its video transfer is exceptional, faithful and filmic to its filmmakers' every intention; its DTS-HD Master Audio track is a sonic marvel, polished to perfection; and its supplemental package, though rather modest, features an extensive Picture-in-Picture track. No matter how you look at it, the Blu-ray edition of Oceans is a must-own release."

Oceans Blu-ray Review by High-Def Digest

"The filmmakers do a great job capturing footage that's unique to their movie, and it makes you realize just how abundant life in the ocean truly is. The video and audio are superb, really they are. They couldn't be any better than what they are now. They could both be used for demo material. The features are a little scarce, but the Living Menu is a very neat HD extra. Overall, DisneyNature's 'Oceans' comes highly recommended."
