- We love the Disneynature series and the Earth movie. I think kids are more open to it. They don't know how much is really involved in changing the way we live to support the planet. You shared a lot of resources on this extensive lens!

- Not a very good movie at all. Too intense to be rated G. I didn't like it, too many animal deaths!!! I know that's earth but I was hoping it was a happy, cheerful, uplifting movie..but I was wrong!Other than the animals dying I'll give it a 3 star for good production and information.

- I didn't see this movie and I don't plan to. I purchased the BBC's Earth Series on Blu-Ray last year, and it is spectacular. When I saw the previews for this movie, I recognized almost everything immediately, so I chose to skip it. That doesn't mean that this movie doesn't have value, but I'd rather see the full thing. :-)

- This is a terrible and loosely tied together amalgam of Planet Earth and other nature shows. It is shallow and empty, and once again Disney has proved themselves to be an evil company who just wants money. Watching the actual series Planet Earth is much more entertaining, educational, and much less confusing. I can't believe that this actually made money. False advertising.

- Disney's Earth was a way for me to see how hard life really is for the animal kingdom. I have no reason to complain about my daily commute to work after watching this cinematically awe-inspiring documentary. How would you like to travel without food and water for days like those herds of elephants? How would you like to swim over 4,000 miles one way to migrate to a better climate? How would you like to swim in ice-melted water and not find any land for days on end like the male polar bear?
This film taught me fortitude and not giving up for the sake of the younger generation. The mothers featured in the film were all so very encouraging and tender toward their young, especially when they realize that this is the first time they have to make this annual journey back and forth for miles and miles on end.
This film is really a tribute to all mothers, especially Mother Earth. How can we help her in her time of need is the biggest question that is left with each viewer.

- I cannot wait to see this movie on Thurday with my friends. One of them will not go because she thinks it is sad. She thinks the animals will get killed and die and she can't take that. Please tell us that is not in this version. As I see the promos, it is all about the glory and beauty of God or Nature (whatever you chose to call it) and stir our hearts to take care of what is ours. I want everyone--especially the children--to see this movie if I have interpreted the promos correctly. Please, someone write and let us "more sensitive" viewers know what to expect.
To Nature and all of its gifts to man!

- I really enjoyed Earth as a kind of successor to Disney's classic True Life Adventures series! I thought the circle of life aspect was handled very well. You can read my review here:

- I did get to see the movie and I think it was incredible. I would caution those with very young children to perhaps wait until the rental comes out or skip it entirely. My three year old kept telling me that she did not "like this channel". Even my 9 year old had her hands over her eyes for much of the movie and my 12 year old (who is very much a realist) told me that the movie made her sad.
Any nature movie will have some element of the cycle of life including death, but this movie had more than its fair share. I feel that a lot of prep for kids going to see this movie would be a good idea. You must know your children individually and decide if they are able to handle many scenes of sadness. An open discussion with them will go a long way in preparing them for this experience.
You can read my entire review at http://shaneshirleysmith.blogspot.com/2009/04/review-of-disneys-new-earth-moviei-saw.html.

- Brenda - thanks for your comment on my review of Earth. In a nutshell, I thought it was good but that Planet Earth was much better because it's longer and was able to focus on many other interesting natural wonders. You can see the whole review here: http://mindfultourist.com/2009/04/14/earth-vs-planet-earth/
