Should You Buy A Disney World Park Hopper Ticket?

There is so much to see at Walt Disney World and so many variations of ticket options. A base Disney World Ticket is for one park on one day. But what if you want to visit Magic Kingdom in the morning but travel to Epcot in the evening? Or spend the day at Disney's Animal Kingdom but switch to Disney Hollywood Studios to see Fantasmic in the evening?

Well there is a Disney ticket solution for you. The Disney World Park Hopper Ticket. This allows you to visit more than one park in the same day.

But is the Park Hopper the right Disney ticket option for you and your family? I will take you through and explain all the options available so that you can make the right choice. If you want to learn more about Walt Disney World Passes follow this guide. Along the way I have included some of my favorite Magic Kingdom Cinderella Castle pictures for you to enjoy. Which picture is your favorite?

How much does a Walt Disney World ticket cost?

Walt Disney World tickets have many options! But it gets easier to understand if you break it down a bit.

You start with a Disney World Magic Your Way Base Ticket. This allows you to visit one park per day. The tickets expire 14 days after their first use and are not transferable to anyone else.

Notice anything about those prices? Disney wants you to buy more days! Once you need a ticket for 3 days or more the price doesn't rise that much for each day you add. So for example a 4 day adult basic Magic Your Way Ticket will cost you less than $11 more than for 3 days.

This pricing system is something that you will want to think about when buying a ticket. Maybe you can afford those extra days at Disney World after all!

A simple way to save money on Disney World Tickets is to buy from a reputable Authorized Ticket Dealer - Orlando Fun Tickets is the one I recommend.

Which Options Can I Add To My Disney World Magic Your Way Ticket?

To The Magic Your Way Base Ticket you can add:

A Park Hopper Option

This allows you to visit more than one park on each day. I will go through this option in more detail later.

A Water Park and More Option

The Base ticket is only valid for Disney's Magic Kindgom, Epcot, Disney Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom.

If you want to add either of the Water Parks, DisneyQuest, Disney World Wide of Sports or a round of golf at Oak Trail then this may be a good option for you.

The price to add the Water Park and More Option is a flat rate of $58.58. For many this is a good deal - certainly if you plan to visit the Water Parks more than once during your stay. The amount of visits included with your ticket depends on the amount of days with your base ticket. For a one day ticket 2 visits are included. For all other tickets the amount of visits follows the pattern of how many days you have. So a 3 day base ticket with Water Park and More would have 3 visits, a 4 day would have 4 visits - right up to 10 visits for 10 days.

The Non Expiration Option

Disney Magic Your Way base tickets expire 14 days from first day of use. If you want them to never expire then you can add this option.

This can be a pricey add on. For example the add on cost to a 5 day ticket is $122.48 or for a 10 day ticket $239.63

Remember with all of these options you can add them if you still have unused days on your ticket so you can always change your mind and upgrade. Downgrading is not an option!

What is a Disney World Park Hopper?

As we have seen, a Base Ticket gets you into one park each day. But suppose you want to transfer parks during the day? Spend the day at Disney Hollywood Studios but want to catch the Disney Fireworks at Magic Kingdom in the evening?

Your solution is the Park Hopper Option which will allow you to switch parks as many times as you want during the day.

The cost to add a Park Hopper option to a one day Base Ticket is $37.28. For a ticket of 2 days or more is $58.58.

Remember that you don't have to decide when you buy the Disney ticket. You can upgrade at any time when you still have unused days on the ticket.

Is A Disney Park Hopper the Best Option?

Who Should Buy a Disney World Park Hopper Ticket?

This one really is a difficult one. Some guests love the freedom that it gives. Others never use it.

It can be very useful and help you to get much more out of your time at the Disney parks. They all close at different times so it may be sensible to get a maximum amount of time at the parks by moving from one park to another. For instance Disney's Animal Kingdom closes earlier than the other parks. You may want to spend the day at Animal Kingdom and then move to Magic Kingdom for the evening.

Will Park Hopping be the right choice for your family? It is always a good idea to plan out your days at Disney World to really get the most from your trip. Sit down with the family and see what you most want to do and discuss how it will fit in with the time you have available. A Park Hopper may be the obvious choice or you may realize at this point you won't need it.

And if you get it wrong and find you need a Park Hopper after spending some time at the parks? Just go to a Disney ticket window and pay the upgrade price to add the Hopper option!

Where Should I Buy Disney World Tickets?

There are 2 ways to buy Disney World tickets which will ensure that you are buying a legitimate ticket. There are scams around and every year guests unfortunately fall for them. Don't be one of them!

To make sure that you are safe only buy Disney World tickets from:

Disney World

You can buy at the gate but you will have to stand in line. A better option is to buy them online at the Disney World website. Some tickets are slightly discounted if you buy them online and in advance. You then pick up your tickets from the park -saving time and money

A Disney Authorized Ticket Dealer

Disney World authorizes certain sellers to sell it's tickets. But you must be sure that they are truly authorized and licensed to sell Disney World tickets. To be sure that you are working with a legitimate and reliable seller I recommend you try Official Ticket Center

How much money will you save with them? The savings can really add up. A 5 Day Park Hopper Ticket has a discount of $13.97 so the savings can soon reach $50 or more for your family.

The Complete Guide To Disney World 2011

I am often asked which Disney World Guide book I would recommend and of course this is a difficult one as everyone has their own favorite styles of writing and presentation. But I was thrilled to get my new 2011 copy of the Complete Guide to Walt Disney World as it is one of the best guide books I have seen.

This comprehensive guide is very well researched and has lots of information for both the first time and regular visitor to Disney World. What do I like most about it. The beautiful pictures. Disney World is so much easier to talk about when you can use pictures and Julie Neal's Guide has some fabulous photographs to give you a sense of what Disney World is really like.
