Disturbing Tobacco Image Warnings

This is one of FDA's proposed cigarette image warning. It shows there that tobacco smoking can ruin the throat. But, is it gross enough to disturb any American smoker? Let's make some comparisons with similar image warning from another country in the next picture.

Now this is what you call disturbing. Do you think this image is gross enough to make Americans pause for a while and contemplate about what they have been doing with their throat and neck with smoking? Or are the Malays more hard-headed that they need the grosser image than Americans just so they'd be persuaded to stop the habit? Hmmm...

Lung cancer tops the list of causes of deaths among men and women. Smokers have highly increased risk of developing cancer, than nonsmokers. Secondhand smoke also increases risk of lung cancer among nonsmokers. So, basically a picture of what happens to a smoker's lungs would suitably pass on a clear message. The nonsmokers, though, may also develop lung cancer due to still unknown risk factors. One type is adenocarcinoma.

I thought the first lung cancer image was gross already, but a picture of a corpse, with his cancer stricken lungs exposed, is no doubt grosser. I know it's a little too morbid, but i think morbidity in this sense is more helpful than creepy. If the FDA would propose something like this, with the torso of the corpse clearly featured, people would be more aware of how serious their lungs could get with smoking.

I wanna say thank you to whoever is this woman in this tobacco warning. The message being conveyed by this image struck me right in the heart. I myself was a smoker. And I'm so glad I stopped a few years after I started smoking. I know I won't have to go through the same painful things that this woman here suffered. This image wasn't the reason for my quitting, though. It was a child born to a dear friend of mine.

"I don't want to die yet. I wanna hug you, and kiss you, and let you know how much thankful I am to have you as my mom." This could be a recurring sound that a woman could be hearing if any of these happens to her child. Fathers, grandparents, aunts and uncles, siblings, friends, colleagues, or anyone who mingles with a pregnant woman must also show care for innocent unborn children and respect their right to live.

Knowing that you are responsible of the life of a child, who's still in your womb, should help you reconsider kicking the habit not just during pregnancy. By avoiding tobacco even after childbirth will greatly help one regain good health, while making sure the newborn is also protected from the dangers of second hand smoke.

According to cancer.org secondhand smoke causes premature death and disease in children and in adults who do not smoke. Also, children who are exposed to secondhand smoke are at an increased risk of sudden infant death syndrome or SIDS, acute respiratory infections, ear problems, and more severe asthma. Smoking by parents causes breathing problems or respiratory symptoms, and slows lung growth in their children. If, along with the image warning, these risks are included in the cigarette packaging, parents might pause and think before lighting another stick.

This almost made me throw. Can you taste the look of it? I hope smokers like oral cancer, tooth loss, and gum problems as much as they like smoking.

Mayoclinic defines gangrene as the decay and death of tissue resulting from an interruption of blood flow to a certain area of your body. Some types of gangrene may involve bacterial infection, like that with wet gangrene. Gangrene most commonly affects the extremities, such as the toes, fingers and limbs, but it can also occur in the muscles and internal organs.

You wouldn't want a venomous king cobra lurking in your house, but with smoking, you put it right inside your shirt. This image, though doesn't seem to have a huge impact at first glance, tells everyone to not pick with stroke and heart disease. It could act like a king cobra, striking and killing someone in an instant.

Impotence can be the greatest blow a man may ever have to face in his life. This can devastate his marriage life and sense of manhood. It can lead to low self esteem and bullying by others. Impotence will create a great imbalance in a man's satisfaction in life, both in sexual gratification and psychological wellbeing.

If you know how hurtful it is to lose someone you love, you would do your best to live as long as possible. And you will do whatever possible thing to keep your love one alive. This anti smoking ad should help people remember that.
