Diverticulitis Description
Let us see how the diverticulitis disease develops. First of all small pouches are formed on the wall of colon. These pouches are called diverticula and this
condition is known as diverticulosis. You may be thinking why these pouches are formed. Read on...
The function of the colon is to pass the food which is not digested out of your body. Our digestive system cannot digest all the food we eat. Especially the processed food and junk food is very difficult to digest. It is because of the absence of an important thing - FIBRE. Fibre helps to pass the stools easily.
Since processed and junk food have very little or no fibre at all, the food is not easily passed through the colon. This will require pressure from your side on the colon to get rid of the stools. When you do this regularly, the colon walls become weaker and weaker. Finally some spots become so weak that they
bulge out and form pouches. These are the diverticula formed on your colon wall.
When a particle goes into these pouches, suddenly inflammation occurs and you will get a diverticulitis attack. The pain will be unbearable and it will quire
sometime to heal.

Diverticulitis Treatment - Diverticulitis Home Remedies
There are some home remedies which you can try to prevent another diverticulitis attack. They help your digestive system by giving it the strength needed for digestion. Don't think that they will help you when you get a diverticulitis attack. They are only intended to help in the digestion and to ease your mild stomach trouble.
- Garlic : Garlic can be thought of as natures gift for helping in digestion. Taking it in adequate quantity will give relief. A clove of garlic can be taken 2 to 3 times a day to help your stomach.
- Papaya : Papaya is the only fruit containing papain which is a natural digestive aid. It helps to clean the digestive track. You can take it in raw form or just make a juice and drink.

- the articles all say a low fiber diet is to blame but I grew up eating my vegetables and fruit and always have. when i really amped up the fiber thinking it would aid in weight loss I began to suffer from diverticulitis. i think a too high fiber diet can cause it as well as a too low fiber diet. now it's hard to find anything I want to eat. I don't want to put it in my mouth if it's going to wreak havoc in my bowels. I'm finding the antibiotic treatment rough, too. I'll just have to quit eating.
