Tarot, Rune, I Ching & Pendulum

Parlor Entertainment

Regardless of how you view divinity readings, one thing is for sure, if you pull out a deck of Tarot in front of guests, they will leave or play. Some take it too literally and miss all the fun. Some think it's all fun and can't see their lives laying on the table before them. Other's are too blind to see and too deaf to hear, but these types are anything but mute.

Four of my favorite parlor games are Tarot, Runes, I Ching and the pendulum.

I'm going to start with the Runes first, because it's the lest complicated Keys. Of all the Rune Spreads that can be done I always use the Three Rune Spread. Of course they must be laid from right to left. That takes a little getting use too since we have be trained to read from left to right. I still get confused some times. Just pull three stones from the bag and lay them before you right to left. I use the ones that accompanied the Ralph H. Blum book with keys. He has all 25 rune pictures inside the front cover just match them up and turn to the page number and read you fate. Actually the three rune spread you only have action, challenge and overview, in which order you prefer to view them, put they must be laid right to left.

My favorite Tarot Spread is the Celtic Cross, also known as the Gypsy Spread. It consists of 10 cards placed 1 in the center, 2 across the first, 3 at the bottom of 1&2. 4 to the left, 5 to the top, 6 to the right. Lay 4 in a vertical row starting on the bottom. Now get your book, match up the cards and read your fate. I read my positions a little different than some of the books I read My position translation is : 1. situation or concerns 2. what crosses the subject 3. base of the matter 4. leaving your life 5. the best outcome 6. situation or person entering into your life. 7. negative feelings 8. surrounding influences 9. hopes 10. outcome. I have my guest shuffle their reading cards and generally make them put them where I point. It keeps them busy while I catch up with other guest. If I'm having a good time on the other side of the room I hand the reading guest the book and tell them to read their own fate.

The I Ching, I don't pull out around large crowds. It's keys refer you to a pretty intense lesson. It takes some quite time to focus on it's meaning. I usually save this one for over night, so they have some reading material while they sit in my yard and listen to the birds sing.

The pendulum, I don't do in groups at all any more, since I saw so very expensive jewelry get thrown across the room. It works on the same principle as the old time folks did the needle on a string over a pregnant woman's belly to tell if it going to be a boy or girl. Only, I use a small chain bracelet with a crystal pendent. Just prop your elbow on the table and let it swing like a carpenter uses a plum bob. Ask it which will be yes ... wait for a swing answer ... Then ask which swing will be no. Some time I get spins for don't know. Some say any response is just a reflects reaction to your subconscious. It doesn't work at all for some. Next time you get bored it would hurt to give it a try.

If this is of any interest to any one. Post me a comment and I'll do some more in depth readings. This should be sufficient enough information for some new group entertainment ideas..

My Tarot Story

Years ago, when I first was giving a deck of Tarot cards, I played with them constantly. My husband was recovering from back surgery and I was the house bound care giver. Our first son was just starting out into the world. He was a total rebel. He had quit school, bumming around on odd jobs and starting in his first low income apartment. The car we had given him had not been maintained. It had no brakes. My son thought it was a funny challenge to manover with the only an emergency brake. It was due an inspection, which would never pass and he had let the insurance lapse. Being a mother, I was very concerned about his health and safety. That nigh before retiring I laid out a card for him. The page of wands. I meditated about how much I wish I could find a way to help him straighten his life out. In a harmless jester, I lay the wheel of fortune card in a cover position. Before the alarm went off the phone woke me. It was the local mechanic . He said he didn't want to alarm me, but my sons car was wreck on the bridge about two miles from my home. No one was there, but there was a blood trail across the bridge. I was in such a panic, I didn't even thank him for calling. I graped some clothes and was hoping into my shoes as I dashed for my car.

First stop, his apartment. His car was not there. I could barely straddle all the bodies sleeping on the floor. Thous with their heads cover, I uncovered. "Where's my son", was answered with moans and groans. Some one pointed to the bed room. I pulled the covers from his head. Thank God, there he was. "Are you all right?" He laughed his annoying little smirk, "Of course." His smirk left his face and one of concern replaced it as I filled him in on my phone conversation. He rose to check the location his car had once been parked. Then he proceeded to see who was still there. One by one they began analyzing who was missing. Jeff, he was the only one not accounted for. He was the brother my son's girlfriend. Both my son and his girlfriend accompanied me to the crash site. The mechanic was already there. In my panic, I had forgotten to make arrangements for the wrecked vehicle. He asked if I wanted it moved. He had not reported it to the police, yet. Since there was no insurance on it, he suggested it removed immediately, to my home. We agreed. Then proceeded up the road another three mile to Jeff's house. We knocked, but no one answered. The door was open. We entered. We had barely stepped inside before Ms. Hill flew across the room to evict her intruders. Her daughter tried to calm her as spied Jeff on the couch and pushed by. Before she could grasp me, I threw back his covers. He was covered in blood. He sat up and tried to collect his thoughts. His face was extremely swollen. By the time we had exchanged all the events, Ms. Hill said she would get him to the doctors. So we left and I returned the young couple to the apartment. When I returned home it was daylight and the cards still lay on the table, I sunk into the chair, with an erie feeling through out my body. Had I caused this? Are Tarots more than a game? When the mechanic delivered the wreck vehicle, he said they were very lucky some one didn't get killed. My guilt was some what lifted and replaced with relief. As I returned to the house, I looked over at the wrecked car in the woods and thought and no one ever will be killed in that car, it scrape. When I returned the cards to the deck I place one on the bottom and one on the top, so they no longer would touch each other. I learned a whole new respect for the Tarot. Even when I wish for things, now, I always add, that no harm comes to others.

Strange Facts

had a friend that was descendant of three North American Indian tribes. Navajo through his mother and Apache and Cherokee through his Dad. He also had Germany and English blood running through his veins viva both parents. Where they got their philosophy, is any ones guess. They tried constantly to out con one another. They jumped sides with in the family on each issue, untill some long term alliances were and still are being made. The next to the oldest son and one of his younger brothers, my friend, hadn't spoken for years. They had a severe Love/Hate relationship.

When my friend and I got a cockatiel, it became a member of our family. His name was Boo Joe. He could say his name, whistle Mayberry Theme Song and loved the dog. We'd had Boo Joe for about ten years and were very attached. One evening at approximately 8:30 PM the phone rang three times. As I moved from my office to answer the call, I heard three sharp screams form Boo Joe, which was beside the phone. I saw him drop from his perch. I opened the door and graped him up in my hand. He was panting his last breaths as his eyes rolled back into his head. I blew into his face and graped a small rubber straw and tried to see if there was any obstructions in the throat. Nothing he was gone. I had forgotten about the phone last did not ring any more that day. My friend said, " That was my brother calling. He took Boo Joe." Not giving way to any imaginary psychic, I began proper burial proceeding at once.

I was still in a morning stage, two days later when the phone rang again. This time it was his mother to inform us of his brother's passing. In a state of shock I heard myself ask, "At what time did he pass?".

"Two days ago", was her reply. "He was pronounced dead at 9:00 pm."

Wow, my mind went blank, with possibilities. Could, it be possible to reach across the country in an instant that your spirit leaves it's body and reach out to get revenge? Could all my Old Time Baptist teaching be wrong? Or did it only scratch the surface of truth? You be the judge. These are true facts, but am I fantasizing by putting the two together. You tell me.

Pendulum Story

I have long been noted amongst my friend circle for entertaining guest with my Divinity Games. Some guest never return, others I have to tell them when the party is over. One of my repeat guest moved to Pennsylvania, about five hours away. After repeated request, we decided to make the journey for the weekend. We arrived at dark and was escorted the last back road trek with an awaiting caravan. We were tired and my partner retired immediately. Our host was excited and raring to go for the night. I tried to hang, just for politeness sake. As the evening wore, so did the host couple's tempers. Now I remembered why I was reluctant to visit. The host couple were constantly in a power struggle. In an attempt to tone down the evening, I lowered the lights and asked the couple to sit at opposite ends of the dinning table. I lite one of the many candles placed about and set it in the middle of the table. The mood quietened immediately. Great maybe this will work, I thought as I asked the host to remove his massive gold chain from around his neck and place it through his wedding ban. He was instructed to place his elbow on the table and allow it to swing from his thumb and fingers. Concentrating, he tried to focus on making it not move. Having no luck he touched it to the table, then raised it slowly. It began to move again. I instructed him to not be concerned about the movement, but ask it which movement was for yes and which movement was for no. As the shining motions took their course, I told him to ask it yes and no questions. After the third mental question, I was asked to sit back from the table so as to not influence the motion. No problem, now that they were entertained with a new toy, I was ready to retire.

I rose to excuse myself as the hostess began asking the candle reflecting object questions, "Did Jim stop at the bar on his way home this evening?" Which was the topic of one of the previous loud discussions. The wedding band at the end of the chain still being held by the host, rose with such force it pulled the chain in a vertical position. I could see the shock and disbelief come over his face as he released the chain allowing it to hit the door across the room. Immediately he retreated to his room. The hostess was still staring at the pile of shinning gold from across the room. I turned on the lights, blew out the candle and asked if she was going to get the expensive jewelry from the floor. Silently, she shook her head from side to side. I picked up the jewelry and placed it in the middle of the table and retired.

The next morning I awoke to the smell of fresh coffee and breakfast. My partner and the host were playing chef. The jewelry was gone from the center of the table. I asked had it been put away to a safe place and the host nodded the affirmative and changed the subject. That was the last time I used the Pendulum around guest. I only used it in private or with a individual I knew was ready to accept seeing the magic that was with in their own psychic nature.
