  1. Introducing Your Children To A New Woman Too Early - You'll have to do it sometime, but timing is everything.
  2. Not Being Candid with Those You Hire to Help You - If you're going to invest thousands of dollars in good representation, why wouldn't you tell them everything they need to represent you, even the embarrassing or dirty details?
  3. Leaving Your Wife Penniless During The Process - You may feel defensive during the divorce process, but there is a lot to consider where the finances are concerned.

Even when it's the wife who is the one who initiates divorce proceedings, there is no doubt that she will feel her world undergoing a drastic change. Sometimes, the level of stress might cause her to react in ways that are contrary to her best interests.

The following are some common mistakes that I have seen women make in the past -- all of which can be easily avoided.

  1. Spending more time with a new man than with the children - The need to find closure and pick up with someone else can be overwhelming, but the children may need more help than you do.
  2. Not planning for a career or looking for a job - Spousal support is one thing, but what are your long term plans?
  3. Failing to give complete information - Men make this mistake too, but if you are going to trust your representation, you need to honest and comprehensive with your information.
  4. Sending harsh E-Mails to your husband - Another mistake men also make. Even if you're in the right, it doesn't mean you should confuse the proceedings by leaving negative comments that may be used against you.
  5. Keeping your husband out of the loop about the children - Your ex may not be with you anymore, but he's still your childrens' father. Treat him accordingly.
