More people should know about the availability of residential solar power (also residential wind power) but particularly DIY solar panels and DIY wind turbines!
It's not only possible to make your own solar panels (and make your own wind turbines) but it's not particularly difficult and it's FAR less expensive than buying them from manufacturers.
In fact, all the parts needed to build your own solar panel can be had for under $200!

3 things you should know about DIY Solar
1) It's easy. There are good, complete, instructional and how-to manuals and videos for residential DIY solar and residential DIY wind turbines.
2) It's inexpensive! It doesn't cost a lot of money to build your own solar panels or build your own wind turbines.
3) Many states have what's called "net metering" meaning energy you do not use can be sold back to "the grid" at full price. What this means is, if you're producing energy from solar and don't happen to be using as much as you're producing at a given time, your meter spins backwards! You're getting dollar-for-dollar credits on your electric bill for the amount of energy you're sending in to the grid. Pretty amazing huh?
