Do-It-Yourself Fishing Lures
I make wooden fishing lures as a hobby. They aren't always the best lure in my tacklebox, but they sure are fun to make. This lens showcases some homemade lures, and provides info on how you can make your own. Enjoy!

Welcome!
I am a woodworker who loves to fish. Or maybe I'm an angler who loves to whittle, carve, and turn wood. Either way, I have managed to mesh my two favorite hobbies by learning to make my own wooden fishing lures. Although the lures I make don't always outperform my store-bought lures, they DO catch a lot of fish! They are more economical than store-bought lures, and they are a ton of fun to make. Not only that, but there is just a certain feeling of satisfaction knowing that you personally designed and built the lure that boated the big lunker.I love giving these lures as gifts to friends and family and have even sold a few (although I dare not quit my day job just yet to support myself selling wooden lures).
As this lens evolves, I will add more content about how these lures are made. There are websites and links you can find by doing websearches, and I will be posting some of that info here. But in the meantime, if you want to dive right in and start making your own wooden fishing lures, you should check out the ebook that got me started down this addictive path. It was written by Kermett Adams, and he really knows his stuff. His book will tell you everything you need to know to get started making your own fishing lures like the ones you see here on this lens. Go here to check it out: www.diylures.info

- Excellent job on this lens. Your lures look great. I used to tie my own flies so I can relate to the satisfaction of catching a fish on a lure you make yourself!!
