DIY Airbrushing

Ranked #13,833 in Hobbies, Games & Toys, #204,656 overall

Intro

Hi!
Here it is all about airbrush art.For the beginners and maybe more advanced users.I will try to explain stuff from A to B and more.

If you made somethiing and have it on tape(camera.Tape...lol),post it here.

How to get started with airbrushing

So the first hing you need to do to start airbrushing,is to get the gear. You are going to need:
-an airbrush
-a compressor
-airbrush paint
optional:
-a spraygun
-an idea

Airbrushes

So first we are going to start with the airbrushes. Now there are many different company's and a lot more different airbrushes. You will come across 0.35 mm to 0.2 mm.Now what does it mean. Its the size of the nozzle of your airbrush. You think it's souch a small difference, like it's only 0.10 mm..It sounds like nothing, but later, you will see the huge difference.
-So I recommend you get a 0.2,because getting the hang of airbrushing is easy and you will want to get the finer details.
Find a dual-action airbrush. Now that neans that whaen you press dovn on the button/switch(you will know where it is)you get airflow and whan you pull back on it ,it will start feeding the paint. The more you pull it back, the more paint you will get.Now the single-action airbrushes are just for fun and I do not reccomend it to anyone trying to go pro, because you can't control the paint.
-So I recommend to get a dual-action,not a single-action,because the paint control.
Now the tipe of way,you will be feeding you airbrush with colors.Gravity, side and conventional feed. The conventional and side feed need a little help (pressure) to get going. This effects the color flow and the accurecy. We all know that the sure way to go straight,is straight down.
-So I recommend the gravity feed.Minimum "drag" of your paint and a better flow.

Compressors

The bigger the compressor, more storage place and more power. There are the ones just for airbrushing, but the bit more powerfull ones are allso used with the spray gun.1 or 2 pistons?Dosen't matter, just look at the power. Here the biggest difference in the storage space.
-So I recommend you get a normal(not week or abnormaly strong or big)just for what you need.

Paint

Use only and I mean only airbrush paint!I know only Createx,Kostum Kolors and Auto Air,but there are also the best of the best paints which are also toxic(USE A PRO. AIR FILTERING MASK!). These are water based paints and are not toxic. At the begining, you should use Createx, because it's cheaper, safe and needs some time to master, but when you get the hang of it,no paint will be a challenge . Auto Air should be thinned 15-25% using the thinner of the same company(recommended) and Createx can be thinned with water. You should thin the paint until you get a milky consistency. Now Kostum Kolors is ready to be sprayed,so no work there. Not sure about the last paint(the toxic ones),because I never used them.
-So to start,use Createx.

Spray gun's

The same rules as the the ones with the airbrush, except for the nozzle. From a span of 14 cm, to 1 m +...
-Suggest you get the size you need, like if you want to update your car,use a big nozzle, for the PC, a smaler nozzle.Don't do it the oposite way.

Replay
-dual-action 0.2 gravity feed airbrush
-A compressor to suit you work and airbrush
-Start with Createx
-Get the right size spray gun

Thats it.Now just follow these rules and get artistic.Questions?Just e-mail me and I will try to help.

btw more lenses on the way and some videos.

Have a nice day.
