The Wedding Reception Your Way on a Budget
DIY Reception Plan Number One: Make A Budget
Set a Date and Save:Setting a date gives you time to plan how much you need to save as well as how much time you have to make all of your arrangements. A date actually sets a goal for you and gives you the opportunity to know how much time you have to do what you need to make everything come together. Depending on how much you want to spend, Either look as some savings that you currently have as well as how much you are going to need to make it come together.
Planning How Much to Spend: You need to find out what you will want or need for the wedding and bring a rough estimate on how much something may cost. For example you may have an idea to rent tables and chairs for the reception. Make sure how many guest you are planning to invite to get the cost of the rental. 25 guests verses 50 guest can make a difference when it comes to renting supplies for your wedding reception.
Do Some Research: If you have some time, go to a wedding show or wedding fair. They can give you a lot of ideas (as well as some prizes) that you can use for your reception. Also getting magazines and articles can help to inspire you to be creative. Go to the fabric store and warehouse to explore ways you can take some ideas and create your own items like centerpieces and table settings.
Be Organized: This is also another important point to make sure to utilize. Try to make things easy with separating your projects. Make a list to find out which project needs to be done the earliest or latest. This will help you to prioritize the duties accordingly. For example, if you have a particular DJ you know is busy during a certain time of the year, make sure to call him or her to schedule them for your reception ahead of time.
Look For Savings/Bargains:Look for bargains online, at your local shopping area as well as in the newspaper. If you have you day prepared as a winter wedding and it is June and you find pine cones for sale that are going to be for your centerpiece at 10 cents each, the best thing to do is buy them. You know that when you look for the pine cones during the holiday they will be back up to $1.00 each it is best to buy them then store for your reception.

The main thing here is to keep in mind your guests. How many people that you are going to invite will give you and indication on how much you are going to spend per person and also how much space that you will need to place your guests comfortably in the facility that you choose. If you are having live entertainment, you need to also think of space where you want them to be placed as well as if you want a dance floor and for how many people. Also you should think depending on the time of the year the weather and its factors. For example if you have it in your backyard and it starts to rain, will you have enough space to fit all of your guests to still entertain? Another one is if you have it at the church how long can you have the facility and who will clean up be involved afterward?

DIY Reception Plan Number Three: If you Need Assistance ASK!
DIY (Do-It-Yourself) doesn't mean to do it ALL yourself. It just means that you are trying to find a way that if you CAN do it yourself, that you may be able to save money. There may be people that you know that may be also be able to assist you and cost less if they also have a type of skill that you may need. For example, you may know someone that loves to bake cakes and/or are retired. You may want to use them as a resource for making your wedding cake.
Also services or duties that you need to prepare for your reception can also be a good way for the person who wants to help a wonderful wedding present. These days many people already have homes or a toaster. You can express that a "service" that a guess can do to help you prepare for your reception can also be a gift. Not many people have money to buy gifts but they may have time and consideration to help and to me that actually it more valuable.
