When Randy and I finished celebrating the fact that I was pregnant with a little girl, I set out to find a truly unique gift that would convey to him how special he was as a daddy. I searched through store after store in the malls to find something he deserved and that would celebrate his unique role as a daddy. After all, I knew my little girl would be a daddy's little girl.

After searching for days, I became disheartened to find that Daddy's had been nearly forgotten! I searched 3 stores and all I found was 1 bib that had the phrase "Daddy's Little Girl". How could our society have forgotten the daddy's vital role in every little girl's life? Interestingly, I found plenty of bibs, onesies, and t-shirts that highlight Mommy's and their little boys. Onesies (creepers), suits, t-shirts and bibs laced with generalities about Mommy's little angel, Mommy's little boy, Mommy's little monster...I became frustrated. And when I get frustrated, I get motivated.

I decided to buy the bib with the saying Daddy's Little Girl, but vowed in that moment I would create a new kind of babywear! I wrapped the gift and gave it to Randy and as I expected he was appreciative and elated. A bit later, I told Randy of my frustrating search and how the babywear industry did not recognize or celebrate every Daddy's love for their little girls. I expressed a desire to make a unique mark in the babywear market. Randy seemed quite interested. But where to start?

One day shortly thereafter, Randy told me about a company dedicated to enabling people just like us to start our own web business designing onesies (creepers), bibs, bags, onesies, and just about any article you could imagine. Daddy's Little Girl Babywear was born! All we had to do was come up with unique babywear design ideas, convert them into graphic files, upload them to Cafe Press, and they would convey them onto onesies (creepers), bibs, t-shirts and bags. It really turned out to be that easy.

We didn't stop with babywear that catered to daddies though. Soon we found ourselves expressing our own brand of wit and humor in other ways and designing babywear that appealed to a larger market. It's funny how things work out sometimes. Erin or I can sit by ourself for hours scribbling and visualizing ideas for new designs for our online store. The trash can gets filled with crumpled paper. Sometimes you just can't seem to break from convention and release your creative instincts.

Then, one evening Erin and myself were sitting, listening to music and talking about designs for a new product for our store and our focus turned from serious to silliness. (Ever happen to you?)
