D&D Miniature

If you are new to the game of Dungeons and Dragons, I am right up there with you. I have just discovered the joy of the miniature figurines. I am a huge crafter so I love to paint the minis. They are also a lot of fun to use during the game as well. They make the connection between the fantasy world of D&D and the real world much clearer which makes playing the game more fun. This particular article is going to be about the different types of miniatures you can buy.

Starting Your D&D Miniatures Collection

The Many Faces of Dungeons and Dragons

There really is no right or wrong way to start your D&D Miniatures Collection. First you find a place that sells the minis. Next you pick out your favorites. They can come in 5 different sizes, sets of 2 or more, or entire armies.

I would not recommend buying the larger ones until you get better at painting. It would seem like the larger ones would be easier to paint, but they are not. There is more detail on them and it is larger so people can see where you mess up.

Try to pick something that is basic. I would also try for an actual starter pack that comes with the paints as well. I painted the skeletons and they were fairly simple. Wizards and such are cool, but they also have a lot more detail. So pick something you like, but make sure it is a simple design. Here are some of the different categories that the miniatures fall into: Against the Giants,Dungeons of Dread, Desert of Desolation, Night Below, Unhallowed, Blood War. War of the Dragon Queen, War Drums, Underdark, Angelfire, and Deathknell. Now this probably makes no sense to you now, but if you start looking at them, you can begin to distinguish which sets you like. There are literally thousands of figurines out there ranging from a couple bucks to hundreds of dollars, maybe more. So go exploring and find your favorites. HAVE FUN!!
