Any Weight Loss Program is only as good as the person following it!
Lots of people treat any weight-loss program with skepticism, no matter how many people claim they work. My Mom uses Weight Watchers, Atkins was a huge craze a few years back to the point my nearby grocery store had whole aisles... you get the idea.
Here's all you really need to understand:
Weight loss takes more than a simple surgery or a miracle binge; it takes weeks if not years of learning new, healthy habits to supplant the old, bad ones.
Anything that motivates people into making a life-altering decision that allows them to lose weight as one of the side effects is a good thing. Whether it's exercise for the sake of an artificial goal (like most DDR-type games) or games aimed at actual fitness, anything that gets people motivated can only be a good thing so long as the game is of high enough quality that people can stick to the program.
It is far easier for someone to be honest and intimate with a machine than with another person, and if the knowledge that a game is the one telling them they need to lose weight, they may take it better than they would from a person telling them as much.
The programs work if you're willing to follow through on them. Fortunately... they're quite compelling.

I've got Wii Fit, and I think it's great (so great I even built a lens about it! :P ). I think of Wii Fit as being like a cheap personal trainer that you can access whenever you want. Sure, games are slightly limited compared to a real personal trainer, but if you're prepared to take it seriously they can help you improve your health in a fun way!
