Do I Really Need SEO

Do You Really Need SEO
When starting an online business, it is very easy to spend more time "learning" then actually working. You can find yourself spending all day researching ideas and learning the latest tips tricks instead of actually implementing your ideas and building a business. Before you know it, you're out of time and out of money - but you do know a thing or two.
Trust me on this one- I spent several years "learning" instead of doing. I had all the materials and tools necessary to build my own successful business but I focused more on learning than doing. I squandered my chance and found myself having to start over. Don't be like me. Instead of focusing all your energy into learning, find one idea and implement it.
Many new business owners start to get bogged down in the technical aspects of the internet and stop focusing on implementing their profitable business ideas. SEO is one of the biggest time sucks for any new business. There are thousands of websites and books designed to teach you how to build your business using SEO tactics. And everyone you talk to believes they are an expert in the art of SEO.
SEO is constantly evolving. A new business owner could find themselves spending all their time learning current SEO tools and tactics only to have the search engines change their programming and thus change the SEO rules again. Everything you've learned could be useful one day and irrelevant the next.
So, I ask you - when starting a business online do you really need SEO?

What is SEO?
SEO is short hand for "Search Engine Optimization."Every business needs marketing and one of the best marketing tools on the internet is the search engine. Whenever someone searches for a topic using a internet search engine, a list of hundreds (and potentially thousands) of websites is created. There are a variety of methods to get your website on that list and a variety of methods to get your website to the top of the list. SEO is a set of tools and ideas that will help your website earn a higher place on the search engine results.
Every business wants to be at the top of the list. If you're just starting your internet business being on that list and being at the top of the list could potentially mean the difference between a hobby and a profitable business.
In one form or another, every business needs to implement current SEO tactics into their websites. It's just a matter of how much time and effort you really need to spend on SEO ideas and projects.
Remember, the idea is spend your time implementing your business ideas, not learning SEO. You need to learn the basic SEO ideas and then spend your time working.
There is More
These beginning SEO activities are not going to get you to number one in the search engine rankings. But you have to concentrate on working and not learning.
You have to start somewhere and these beginning SEO activities are a great place to start.
SEO for Beginners
It is very easy to get bogged down in the ideas related to SEO and before you know it, you'll be spending all your time learning new SEO tactics. In order to build a successful business, you need to focus and implement one idea at a time. I am constantly reminding my clients to focus their working time on tasks that can and will make them money. SEO can be beneficial to a new business but it will be overwhelming as well.
The first SEO tactic to implement is optimizing the actual source code and layout of your blog. Your website's code and layout should be kept as simple as possible. If the search engines themselves begin to have troubles in extracting the most relevant keywords on your site because of a overly complex layout, you'll never reach the top of the list. If you don't know how to create your website and keep the code simple, you may want to spend a few minutes with a friend or freelancer who understands HTML and can help monitor and review the coding of your site or use a tool like Wordpress to build your website.
If you're creating a blog and working towards building a profitable online business, try to have each one of your blog posts target only one specific topic. Get in the habit of writing content that revolves around one topic at a time now. Focusing your topics will make your content easier for a customer to read and understand and also give you a SEO bonus. Webpages are easier for the search engines to index properly if the content is focused. When you reach the point of advertising on your website, you'll find that focused content allows AdSense ads to be consistent with the content of the blog and that could mean more profit. .
That's it. That's all the SEO a beginner needs.
Concentrate on implementing a great website with focused content and a simple layout that will build your profitable business.
