Why Pay Someone, When You Can Learn It Yourself

As strange as it sounds coming from a computer repair company, we are actually going to help you figure out how to go about learning how to fix your computer yourself. We hope you enjoy this lens, please let us know if it was helpful at all in anyway be leaving a comment at the bottom of the lens.

So You are a Do It Yourself Kind Person?

Let's See If You Got What it Takes

Yes, I know this lens is supposed to be about books on computer repair, and it will be later on in the lens. Right, now we need to probe your brain and get the gears turning. You have a problem and you want to fix it yourself concerning your computer, we have a few questions.

1: Are you a self learner?

2: Can you think logically and randomly at the same time?

3: Are you ready to accept that you will never understand everything about computers and every niche?

4: Are you hands on and don't care if you fail trying?

5: Are you willing to ask questions, even if the person answering is rude and obnoxious?

If you answered YES to all these questions than you are ready to proceed into the world of computer repair. The computer repair world is very broad and no one person can be an expert at every aspect of it. I admit to this in this way, being the sole proprietor of my company (Ryan's Computer Consulting Services) I mainly troubleshoot in the home and small business world. I would be lost at a data center or the back end of web host provider. Now, you can talk to me all day long in desktop, laptop, and accessories to the personal computer. That is my niche, do you know what yours is?

See if you can find who you are in this small list.

On-the-fly:

Don't really care to much about computers, I just have a problem at the moment and need to know how to fix it without spending a fortune.

Hobby:

Everybody in the family calls on your know-how before they spend money.

Career/Business:

You have a career in the computer information technology field or are a business owner.

With all the above, you can see basic levels of progress. The On-The-Fly person is the average web browser looking for answers, and doesn't want a book of unrelated materials. They use Google more often than not, get very irritated when they cannot find an answer on their own. If you fall into this category, here's a thought:

Accept that not all information is free, and you may need to read a book.

Ouch, I know that has got be annoying to hear that, because I remember being that way in my teen years.

Moving on, if you fall into the hobby category, why not expand your knowledge? You are the type that has been giving away free information for so long without getting anymore than a thank you and a pat on the back. While the feelings are good, it doesn't do much for you. With that said, this leads to the Career/Business class.

Every person, no matter who you are learns differently, but one thing remains a constant and that is we learn off one another. That is why books were created. They are a way to share an education without going back to school or to prepare you for school/experiences that are coming.

Well, that was more information that I knew I was going to type up! On to the books!

So Where do I get Books to Educate Myself on Computer Repair?

Amazon! Very Low, and Competitive Prices!

Amazon is one of the only remaining pioneers of the Internet with selling new and used books, electronics, and other nifty stuff. You will find thousands of topics on just about anything there. However, we will focus in on the books that we suggest reading when learning about repairing computers.

We highly recommend the "Dummies" books for anyone who is just staring out. All the other books are for those that consider themselves a novice and working their way towards expert in their field/niche.

If you rather not purchase tons (literally in weight) books to carry around, why not check Amazon's Kindle Reader to get copies of books electronically instead of paper. You can see that at this location:
