Bathroom Cabinets DIY Projects

This bathroom cabinet design could potentially be one of your next DIY projects, for those gifted with carpentry skills.
Stone and wood work together to make a range of bathroom vanities, named Bati, to reinterpret the integral beauty of both materials. The company, Kudeta, is becoming increasingly popular in Europe, with 200 outlets in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Italy. What people in these countries have in common is an appreciation of the smart, modern vanities that retain a rustic edge through the use of rough finishes and chunky, abstract lines. Simple and uncluttered, the vanities are intrinsically usable, with a purity that belies their functionality. Whether you need a freestanding basin or a unit with plenty of storage, there is something to suit you in the Bati collection from Kudeta, including matching items to continue the look.
"Dark, dramatic and unexpected, our Pole range offers a fresh new take on the bathroom. The effortlessly sensual combination of dark-stained oak and sleek marble lines works equally well on its own, or accessorised with bold colours."

Mediterranean Tiles DIY Project
20/03/09

When it comes to decorating in the Mediterranean style, the floor must not be neglected. Tile flooring can be used to create a unique look.
There are many distinctive elements to Mediterranean design, but perhaps the most intricate and beautiful is the tile floor. The floor can be of a single tile color, certainly, but the mosaic tile floor is the most unique type of flooring you can install in your home.
As with painting your walls, it is possible for you to install your own mosaic tile floor, if you like DIY projects or you can have it professionally done.
There are many reasons to have a tile floor, irrespective of whether or not it suits your Mediterranean design! Tile is durable and easy to maintain. It is water resistant, and as long as the tile is sealed properly, will not become stained from an accidental spill. If you're tiling your bathroom floor - consider having a radiant heating system built in, to keep the floor warm in winter.
Regardless of whether you take this on as one of your DIY projects or have someone do it for you, you need to design what your floor will look like. The tiles can be illustrated with simple geometric patterns, or be part of a mural. If you're artistic you can design the floor yourself, or you can surf the web or search design books to find just the right pattern. Put this on your list of DIY projects, or get started right away!
There's a knack to transferring that pattern from a small piece of paper to the larger floor space, so exercise care when you're laying that tile!
Kitchen floors certainly call out for tile, considering the constant dangers of spilled liquids from the sink or dishwasher. Bathrooms in particular need tile flooring, and a lot can be done with a tile floor and tile walls, to make it look perhaps like a sumptuous Roman or Greek bath of old.
Tile comes in a variety of colors, sizes and shapes, so it's easy to find exactly what you need to create your new floor exactly as you want it. In addition to getting tiles in solid colors, consider getting Moroccan tiles - with their beautifully intricate designs.
Morocco is a country on the north coast of Africa, quite close to Spain across the 19-mile wide Strait of Gibraltar. Moroccan designs have had quite an impact on Spanish decor, with its exotic look and feel.
How to Ceramic Tile outlines how to choose ceramic tile, ceramic tiles sizes and shapes, ceramic tile types, how to trim tiles, choosing ceramic tile adhesives, ceramic tools, ceramic tile snappers, how to trowel ceramic tiles, how to grout ceramic tiles, ceramic tile nippers and much more.

Here is the new concrete washbasin shaped as a fossil, the Ammonite washbasin from High Tech. Inspired by the archaic beauty of ammonites, this unique design showcases the organic qualities of concrete. The washbasin can be produced in widths between 90 cm and 330 cm with a standard depth of 56 cm, and is available in several colors. It can be installed either with a table-mounted or wall-mounted tap. "Ammonites are an extinct species of cephalopods which lived in the sea about 400 million years ago. Their shells are found all over the world and they are very much sought-after by fossil-hunters, their collector's value depending on size and the state of preservation. The fascinating shape of ammonite fossils - which resembles a rolled up helix - is the basic design element in the new HighTech washbasin. The association of water and fossil design is a clear allusion to the prehistoric inspiration for the Ammonite washbasin." HighTech Do-It-Yourself Home Projects.
For those who love natural stone, but wish to establish a minimalist feel within their bathroom, the new Sync System from Stone Forest is ideal. Totally contemporary, the Sync System feels entirely fresh by avoiding the usual, rustic interpretation of stone. Instead, materials such as carrera marble, honed basalt and onyx show off their beauty in sleek, modern styles teamed with stainless steel brackets. Futuristic grill drains in stainless steel also add a memorable detail to the basins. A modular system with endless possibilities, there are sinks, countertops and shelving to combine in any way you like. Bring natural stone and cutting edge looks to your home with the new Sync System from Stone Forest. You can purchase a rectangular sink for between $1010 - $1200. This can be paired with a square countertop which costs between $570 - $720. Brackets and shelves are also available for purchase.
Eggy, inspired from egg and Horns. The symbiosis between man, nature and space is the central idea.
The curious design takes a cue from the natural beauty of a perfectly boiled egg cut in half with a horn-shaped faucet installation symbolizing the symbiosis between man, nature and space. These are unique DIY Projects!

The inherently stylish Guest and Jey bathroom vanity lines are suitable for contemporary or transitional interiors. The vanities seem to quite effortlessly exchange linearity and sharp corners with polished curves for something altogether gentler! Available in light and dark wood from Italian Mastella.

The elegant atmosphere is created by the mixture of metallic tones, from brushed silver to gold, that create an interplay between a warm and cool pallets. However it doesn't end there. The design is centered upon the use of double and triple effects through its accessories that provide a subtle motif and a pleasing harmony. This luxurious bathroom is accented by a Mastella double vanity to tie in the fullness of the bathtub - both pieces being highlighted against the straight contemporary lines of the flooring, mirrors and storage cabinets. Simple but stylish faucets and cabinet hardware allow the few accessories to be featured to the fullest.
Mastella delights us further with this lovely egg-shaped tub and shower with cascading design above and around.
This Sanindusa bathroom design offers a zen-like retreat with its eye-catching, but calming apple green and porcelain white combinations. The Sanindusa Série T taps blend in easily in their crisp chrome finish and clean lines, and adding to the contemporary touch. The design is inherently simple; however it is paired with a marvelous background - a trick of light and glass - to create a surreal outdoor experience.

Stained Glass Mosaic Table Tops DIY Project

If you are breaking stained glass (as opposed to buying square glass tiles) then get a stained glass cutter (sewing machine oil to place inside cutter), and nipper, and wear goggles for safety reasons.
Depending on what you place the stained glass mosaic on, will determine what glue you might want to use. If placed on glass then MacGlue dries clear. If on wood or plywood then GEII would be the best choice. Once again Weldbond took the longest to dry. 3 GOG Glue Test Results for bonding glass. Weldbond for outdoor projects - it re-hydrates far too easily and dries very slowly. Weldbond should always be used very sparingly.
Apply glue to both sides sparingly and wait a few minutes then apply. Use Goof off or Goo Begone to remove any oozing.
Use regular sanded grout. The grout wipes right off the glass; however, if the glass is very textured, you need to get it out of nooks and crannies before it dries.
I have heard from some the glass can crack if something is dropped on it. Just have a clear piece of glass cut to fit the table top and put over it. A few dabs of hot glue between the two will keep the top glass in place.

Mosaic Flooring Ideas DIY projects
June 24, 2007

Are you thinking of updating your flooring but you have no idea what you want to do? Perhaps you want to add something a little different? Maybe you are into art and you would like something which represents that interest in your home? If this sounds like you then you may want to consider mosaic flooring.
What is Mosaic Flooring?
Mosaic flooring is often misunderstood and many people often picture a full, massive mosaic picture which should belong in an old fashioned church or building of some sorts. However, mosaic flooring does not have to be huge, you can create as small a pattern as you would like to and you can either do it yourself or get someone to do it for you.
There are so many styles of mosaics and it should be easy to find something to suit you and your style. The main thing that you have to remember is to keep it the same kind of color as the rest of the room. You do not want a mosaic which clashes with the rest of the room otherwise you will end up with disastrous results. You want something tasteful and easy to accomplish which will just add a bit of focus but which will not look odd or out of place.
Where Can I Find Mosaic Flooring?
You can find mosaic flooring in a number of places. Your local hardware store may have various designs to choose from but really the Internet is a much better place to look. There you will find hundreds of designs and you will also be able to find out how to create your own. If you are a good artist then why not design your own mosaic and either pay someone to cut it onto the material of your choice, or hire the materials and do it yourself? It will give you a sense of satisfaction creating something yourself and it will also add a personal touch.
A person's house says a lot about them and so you should have things which represent you and your style. So keep that in mind when choosing the mosaic flooring. Choose the right color scheme and choose a style to suit you. For example would you prefer a pattern with flowers on or with animals on? Would you like a mixture of things? There literally are hundreds of designs so it does help to know what you are looking for beforehand otherwise it could take you a long time to find a style that you like.

Hot to install pebble countertops video and installation instructions.
1. With the trowel, apply the thinset evenly on the desired area.
2. Lay the pebble tiles down, interlocking each tile on all sides.
3. To fit a tile in a space too small for a whole tile, cut the mesh which hold the pebbles together. You can also remove individual pebbles to fill empty spaces.
4. Once complete, allow at least 24 hours for the thinset to dry before grouting.
5. Apply a coat of sealer to prevent the stone absorbing color from the grout.
6. Apply the grout with the grout float so that the grout is packed in all the space between the pebbles.
7. Allow the grout to set for up to 20 minutes. Then, with a wet sponge, clean the excess grout off the surface of the pebbles.
8. Continue to clean the grout residue with a clean sponge until desired pebble exposure is reached.
9. Allow 24 hours for the grout to dry completely then apply a coat of sealer over the grout and pebbles.

"I've purchased other books on decorative concrete, but this is the first one that I think is worth what I paid! It has excellent discussions of different techniques and materials, something that other books lacked. And, since they are not promoting some specific product, they provide information about products that are not as expensive as some of the systems that are being sold. The pictures are not as detailed as would be helpful on some pages, but that is a minor issue. There are enough step by step instructions to make it possible to do projects from the book as you learn the techniques. I highly recommend it."

- Home Projects May Get Tax Credit - WSJ.com
- Tax incentives for energy-efficient and renewable-energy home improvements may offer consolation to homeowners who feel left out of stimulus efforts.
The credits fall into two primary camps. One is energy efficiency, which covers certain improvements to an existing home's structural elements, such as windows and insulation, as well as for the purchase of qualifying high-efficiency heating, cooling and water-heating equipment. The second is for renewable energy, which includes solar, wind, geothermal (heat generated from the earth) and fuel-cell technologies (which convert the chemical energy of a fuel, such as hydrogen, into electricity).
