A do it yourself woodworking require a level of commitment and determination. Beginners are expected to experience some glitches and minor frustrations at the beginning. However, once you master the craft, do it yourself woodworking is one of the most rewarding project you can embark on.

Before you start a do it yourself woodworking projects, you have to lay some groundwork first and determine the things you have to consider.

First off, let me begin by asking what is it that you wish to build?

Do you wish to build those simple projects like birdhouses, children's toys, or perhaps a simple table? or do you wish to build the more complicated projects like a garage, sheds, and cabinets?

Your answer to this question is a requisite to all other factors that you may have to consider.

You are going to be dealing with woodworking tools here. So in setting up your workspace, safety should be of prime importance. Tools should be keep out of reach from children and it has to be kept in a way that is preventive of any accidents.

I strongly suggest setting up your workspace on a space out of your house. With smaller projects, it's okay but with bigger do it yourself woodworking projects, it can get very messy and sawdust might fill every inch of your house.

You have the choice of tools that you can use. You may use hand tools which I highly recommend for beginners. Or if speed, power and efficiency is high on your list of priorities, then I suggest you get your hands on some power tools. I myself personally use a both hand and power tools.

Although I am easily drawn to the speed of power tools, I still find my hand saw, chisel and planes indispensable tools for a do it yourself woodworking projects.

That's why I highly recommend that serious do it yourself woodworker should invest some in a very good basic hand tools.

I've personally accumulated numerous do it yourself woodworking project plans over the years. Most, I've purchased individually when I have a certain project in mind. However, it could get very costly. Lately, I found a very nifty do it yourself woodworking project plans that's very good for beginners as well as experienced woodworker.
