This is the question that he asks me nearly everyday

I remember asking my mom the question a very long time ago. Now, he is asking me the same question. I generally reply "NO" because that is what he expects me to say. He knows that I love him so it is a game we play.

Still, it's Valentine's Day and I want to make very sure that even with the playing, he knows I love him.

Niles Baby, this is for you.

You're so vain

We all know that you can't pass a mirror without telling us how cute you are. This is full of pictures so you can see that it's true. You are cute!

A little background

My sister-in-law called me and said that they were going to be grandparents. I was jealous. She called me a month later and told me that her other daughter was pregnant and she was going to have two. Now, I was beyond jealous. The next month, I picked up the phone and told her that I was going to be a grandma. She pointed out that she will have two grandchildren and I will only have one. I mentioned that she has twice as many kids so it still works out the same. That was 11 years ago.

Things changed when life got in the way and we adopted our grandchild. While his parents are still involved in his life, we are the ones raising him so he does not have the option of having us as grandparents. We are the parents. We homeschool and basically make his life miserable as all good parents should.

Niles, Sierra, and Sean - The three grandchildren mentioned above.

4th of July Parade 2011, Marshfield, Missouri

My son, brother, niece, nephew and former brother-in-law are all part of a World War II reenactment group. They let the kids ride along with them in the Marshfield, Missouri 4th of July Parade. Niles, Sierra, and Sean are 3 months apart.
