Doctor Costumes, Halloween, And Teenagers

Have fun this Halloween

Halloween is a great time to explore the various ways that one could express his or herself. The occasion really makes for a great excuse to dress up in things like doctor costumes, and to dress as particular professions.

It's a great way to try on certain images. And if there are youths in the household, it's also a great way for those youngsters to toy with the physical notion of dressing up as a particular professional. The person could dream for a few hours, make-believing that he or she is actually doctor, or actually a lawyer. He or she can just as easily role play for a few hours, in just the same way. It's a great opportunity to also sort of instigate a kind of discussion about the future. Many of the parents that have teenagers do in fact exploit these particular occasions to invoke these topics. "Do you think you might want to consider attending medical school in the future?"

A Great Way To Start a Conversation

Runaway patientIt's a great way of initiating specific conversations of particular topics and issues. And so, what you're seeing with a lot of households that toy with these ideas, using these doctor costumes or nurse costumes as an excuse really to do this, is that the people involved do end up with better, more mature ideas afterward. It helps to plant seeds and to get things going earlier on in one's life. And an occasion like Halloween could be impetus for this. It may very well be that a person could end up saying to himself or herself, "You know what? I dressed up as a doctor one Halloween, and it just felt right. The doctor costumes felt good, and I just knew there was a calling there." That all said, this by no means implies that parents can begin to nudge and try to persuade children into pursuing certain tracks in life. Children and teenagers need to come to conclusions organically, innately, on their own.

Let them figure it out themselves

best doctorThey need to have their ideas, and in some cases, they do need to reinvent the wheel for themselves, so that they fully understand the causes of things. If you're a parent and you're in a similar situation, don't fret; give things time to unravel. Let things try to work themselves out on their own. These are all notions and emotions, ideas that are embodied by these doctor costumes, when teens and children dress up for Halloween. They're neat little day-dreams; they're neat little experiments of what it might be like to carry on in a certain way, later on in life. Of course, later on, Halloween takes on a more indulgent sort of framework, and young adults tend to forget about the realistic connections of dressing up, and sort of head toward escapism.
